Vaping may be causing irreversible harm to children’s health, doctors say

Doctors have raised the alarm about high levels of vaping among children worldwide, saying they are convinced e-cigarettes are causing irreversible harm to their health.
Cardiologists, researchers and health experts said they were “extremely concerned” about the harmful effects of e-cigarettes on millions of teenagers and young people, including exposure to toxins and carcinogens – some of which are still unknown.
Nicotine levels in e-cigarettes can be very high, raising the risk of addiction and injury to the developing brains of adolescents. Children are also risking long-term cardiovascular effects as a result of vaping at school and college, experts say.
Speaking at the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) annual congress in Madrid, the world’s largest heart conference, Prof Maja-Lisa Løchen, a senior cardiologist at the University hospital of North Norway, said she was concerned that millions of children could face ill health in future.

Nicotine is Bad for children.
Its almost like this has been proved like 100 Years ago already with cigarettes
Yet for some reason, everyone is acting like anyone on gods green earth has ever said that it would be healthy.
Since I had some contact with kids who are Smoking/Vaping, I can anecdotally say that they never do it because they like the taste. Most of the time its because they are fucked up in some other way, like having mental conditions or a worse-than-good family
And even if Vapes wouldnt exist, they would just get cigarettes, sometimes even from their parents
But who am I to draw a conclusion after all, especially since I know that they tobacco industry is extremely rich, and I dont want to close off any options, especially if it involves green 174x77mm rectangles with Art in the barock androkoko architectural style
- I'm not even sure I've ever crossed paths with someone who genuinely thought vaping wasn't harmful except for the media and politicians. Most, I think are just betting that it's not as harmful as smoking.

Isn't it odd how proven health hazard are never banned, but anything healthful faces uphill battles to market?
- Taking the right to consent to harm away from the people is not comperable to offering something that can heal.
  Nobody said vapes and other tobacco products are good for you. In fact, its basically common knowledge to the contrary. On the other hand, if you have a product you want to sell that you conjured up in a lab AND you want to tell people its good for them and not be lying through your teeth you need to be regulated, otherwise you run the risk of misleading the public.
  Then we have the topic of "dietary supplements" which in the US are NOT sold as food and can therefore tell people basically whatever you want about it. Energy drinks, vitamins, chemical supplements and things like that all fall in that catergory. Looking closely at their labels one can often find language stating things along the lines of "these statements have not been evaluated by the fda" because if they were evaluated they would be found to be either mistruthful about what they do or generally unsafe.

  Obviously not every dietary supplement is meant to be a dangerous scam, but they should always be taken with the guidance of a physician to ensure you aren’t poisoning yourself.

- I don’t think I would call vaping ‘healthful’ exactly. But I get the point, like they are working so hard to ban vaping but leaving cigarettes out there?
  
  Uh, I was talking about say organic produce not watered with ~~cracking~~ fracking waste and cleanly, humanely farmed food from farm to packing and processing to shipping to consumer, rather than banning vapes, cigs, alcohol (also noting reefer/ayahusca which aren't harm-free but can be reduced harm are highly illegal).

Tried looking up the New England study mentioned but don't have access, does anyone have a link? Would love to see an actual study on the dangers of vaping that doesn't cite the vitamin e acetate incident from 2017 or so. I've never once claimed it's healthy, but we are getting pretty close to where it's the same cost for me just to smoke cigs and I don't understand why vaping is seen as so much worse by our governments and the media.
- I'm fairly certain that this is what's being cited. The journalism, unfortunately, is quite poor and it's hard to confirm precisely what article she was referring to.
- Yeah it's always that, "popcorn lung" which is so horseshit it's laughable, and studies that burn coils down until they're dry and red hot (figuratively you'd cough so hard your lungs would come out, you'd have other problems like maybe literal burns).
  As far as I've seen, some UK studies have shown it's not good for you (which is a strawman, people claim it to be better than cigarettes, not healthy like fucking broccoli. "Good" in terms of harm reduction sure but literally nobody has ever claimed it to be beneficial otherwise), but city air with it's pollution is often worse for you than vapes, so anyone who lives in a moderately large city can STFU, if you live in Unincorporated Loupe Co. Nebraska and have never smoked, maybe you have room to talk shit.
  As far as cost goes, if you can homebrew juice in your location it's an absolute game changer. ~$3/60ml.

- Look, I'm as childfree and antinatalist as the next guy, but this is not beeing nice. Do I want them around me? No. But I know how to swear, and you've got variations on "fuck" in a single sentence.
  Kids are terrible, but really? Gotta throw four fucks out there? It's readily apparent that you do not give a fuck.
- Regardless of what you think about people having kids, I don't think there's anything wrong with being concerned for the well-being of people who haven't even grown up yet.
I mean, wouldn't that be kind of obvious? I know that stuff has to be scientifically proven, but still. Just look at them lol
