This looks like late stage blockbuster, where they were trying to sell shit rather than rent. Blockbuster in its prime had rows and rows of a variety of movies rather than one wall of the most recent movies for sale
The perimeter was always the new releases for our store. That one shelf with the documentaries, workout videos and that one copy of Mind's Eye was where man dare not tread.
The large displays of not-movies came pretty late, though, didn't it? I remember a few stands by the counter up until the business started suffering a little as the 21st century came a creeping, and only then did they get prominent with the popcorn and candy.
