Anything less than 100% is a bit disappointing, to be honest, but this is promising. Trans rights are human rights!
90% for an issue like this is really fucking impressive, to the point I doubt the result. If you ask people about anything, there will be 5-10% of people who mishear/misread the question/accidentally click on the wrong button/don't care about the poll/etc. If you asked people whether they are currently alive, you will get similar numbers. This is all true, and yes 91% is remarkably high, and functionally unanimous. I'm just a bit salty that it's even a question.
The poll was done by redbridge, one of the major political pollsters here. Though pollsters do occasionally get it wrong on political issues, I honestly don't think they would publish such an overwhelming result if they didn't believe it was robust.
Though the op's article was from October, the poll was done and published early this year, just before our federal elections. The same election where the conservatives tried to go with MAGA-style culture wars. So if I had to guess, there may be an element of fatigue with the strategy of cosying up with the far right fringes shown in the result of the poll.
And yet they still didn't get the message. After their disastrous loss, there were still many in the party that said it was because they didn't go far enough right..
...what does 24% of Americans have against kittens? 🤔
100% of people don't even think the earth is round. Please lower your expectations.

Are there any issues that have 100% agreement on anything?
Very impressive to see 91% though. Go Australia!

"Ted Cruz is not sexy"
"It's impolite to stab your neighbors without a good reason"
"Asbestos pizza is a bad idea"
"A municipal skate park is a bad venue for professional football"
"Viking Hippie should have stopped 2 examples ago"
Maybe the other 9% are trans and like a great secret beach don't want everyone to know how fabulous it is to be trans!
That's honestly an amazingly high number, at least compared to my experience in the US. If it weren't for the climate I'd want to move to Australia
We're the 6th largest country on the planet, we stretch from tropical rain forests in the north, to deserts in the west, to snowy mountains in the south with everything in between What climate are you looking for?
Is the south as cold as like the northern US? I currently live in the mid-atlantic US but if I could actually afford to move I think I would want somewhere a little colder than where I am now
I hope they offer transgender asylum soon
Good on Aussieland!
I would be curious where they did the polling and how many people they spoke too.
I can take you to communities in Australia where trans rights wouldn't even be understood then when explaining them they would want to kill the person.
I just find that number to high
The Redbridge polling was conducted for Equality Australia between February 3 and 7 this year with a sample of 1,013 Australians aged 18 and older.
Where from though? The demographics in Melbourne would be very different to Katherine or Alice Springs
That's crazy. Idk if we can pass 50% in the us
I highly doubt this is a reflection of Australians in general (meaning rural Australia). More like a reflection of Australians in the state capitals who are much, much more progressive.
I mean, most of Australia voted 'no' when it came to indigenous rights recently...
Australia is one of the most urbanised countries in the industrialised world.
Yeah as an indigenous person i was kinda disappointed by that haha.
On the other hand though to move forward as a nation we really need to move on from the past and all be Australian together
Sorry about my brother then as he appears to be playing bingo with the number of prejudices he has. Still, at least he hates everyone.
Immigrants are his favourite hate group, strange to say he's not originally from Australia
I find this news very encouraging, but also really hard to believe.
I'm no longer on speaking terms with my mother and two brothers over their pro Ameriacn fascist regime position - and the anti trans stance of said regime is the main attraction for them. They all live in circles of friends where this is normal.
I'm sorry you had to cut your family out but ultimately you don't need that toxicity in your life so we'll done for improving your life in one easy action!
Really needed to see this after a bigot i went to school with told me being trans was a mental illness.
Why so few?
Surprised it’s that high, i know even Australia has its share of crazy. I mean…
