I don't normally enjoy sports, but watching that one go down to a shootout was pretty intense.
Possibly it's my own biase, but does it seem like Australian soccer teams in general do less of the flopping around pretending to be hurt thing? And the women's teams from any country do it far less than the men's?
Of all the games I've watched in my life, that was one of the most epic, perfectly matched games I've ever seen. 0 0 for the first two halves. 0 0 for the next two 15 minutes halves. Then the shoot out to rival any shoot out in history. Well done France, you were truly Australia's equal every step of the way.
I'm not really much of a sport watcher. But I've found myself following the Matilda's this world cup - I think it's the fact we're hosting and they're a home team.
So tense! Helps that soccer is pretty easy for a newbie to follow.
