That was an interesting scene. I wouldn't have guessed it was filmed in IR but it did a really good job of portraying the Harkonnens as barbaric and otherworldly from a cultural perspective. It was pretty unsettling to watch for reasons that are difficult to articulate.
Overall the movie was fantastic. If not for a couple other scenes this IR bit likely would have been my favorite part.
What’s interesting to me is that there is no “going back” with the footage. Since the black and white effect isn’t done in post, there’s no colored original.
While I was watching in cinema I thought it was only strange makeup and post-processing. But whole lighting was off. Skin texture was off. I love cinematic art like this: light, composition and color (or lack thereof) It's for me one of most important aspects of both parts.
Amazing idea and execution. Hats off...
