It's my birthday - same date as a close friend too. We are having a relaxed tea and cakes on the lawn thing with other friends if the weather is up to it. Tea and cakes inside if not. I'll probably get out for a hike somewhere on the other day too.
The following weekend I am having an 'official birthday' and my SO has arranged a mystery outing to somewhere that she tells me isn't often open - hence the delay. I'm guessing some kind of specialist museum-y thing but I have no idea what exactly. Looking forward to it anyway.
Itβs also my birthday! But no relaxation for us, I invited everyone over to help me build a giant patio cover in exchange for a steak dinner. Iβll consider not breaking my back a wonderful present.
I'm going to the ardennes with friends. I'll be staying sober while the rest of them will be drinking and using coke.
I'm wondering if I will enjoy this.
I used to do these things to. But I've grown up unlinke my friends.
I don't need this anymore.
People change. I had a recent realization like that too. I changed. My friends stayed over, and we had fun out at the clubs in my city while they were in town.
They have a very unhealthy relationship with alcohol to put it lightly, lol.
I donβt know, but I will be outside since we wonβt be hitting +100Β°F temps. If thereβs anything this heat dome has done to me this year, itβs conditioned me to think temps in the 90s are glorious! π
Playing D&D with some people on Friday, then setting up my new Sawstop table saw. After that, building a miter saw station for some storage and more effective use of space in my shop. I doubt I'll finish that, but then I need to finish restoring an old planer from sometime between 1935 and 1986 (got everything taken apart, cleaned up, painted, put back together, just need to rewire it) so I can sell my cheap one. If I manage to get all of that done, then I have some nightstands to build
I'm just going to relax and enjoy my time at home. I'll help my family with some yard work, they want to trim the hedge in our backyard. I'm pretty sure my stepdad will fire up the grill this weekend. I'm going to see if I can recover some lost data on my failed external hard drive or at the very least re-torrent what I lost, but a lot of those torrents were from RARBG before its closure.
My last real weekend before things get truly nuts at work for about six weeks. Happens twice a year, and really isnβt all that bad. Itβs finance-adjacent, so deadlines and such are what they are.
Planning on a nap, assembling a piece of furniture I hope will improve my workflow, andβ¦. Another nap.
Father's Day here in Australia, but wife will be working. So my little girl and I are going to start the Clone Wars series together (she's a new fan, after we started Ahsoka, and now wants to watch all the back story).
I hope you guys are starting with the movie. Not that I'm a huge fan but it's where Ahsoka started and it's a fun contrast to the where the series ends up.
Until now, she didn't seem hugely interested in the franchise, but Ahsoka was a great opportunity for her to see strong, female leads in a setting I enjoy.
We already have a really strong bond, but it's given us something new to connect over, which is awesome.
Itβs the first weekend I havenβt had to work in 6 weeks and Starfield early access should begin just in time for it! Then a motorbike ride with my parents to a cafe for Fathers Day lunch on Sunday.
Going for a solo golf round at the local public course early Saturday morning. I won't be playing for a while after the next couple of rounds. The season is nearing the end, and my wife and I are expecting by late September, early October, so the golf clubs will stay in the locker hehe.
Edit: So I started playing again last year after a close to 15 year hiatus. Today was my best round since (89)!
