One big happy family.
  • Dual booting W11 and Linux Mint. I like linux, but can't get adobe premiere to work satisfactorily there. There are also some softwares like a viewer for 3DS games on my modded 3DS that I can't really use either

This Year's Gamescom Showed Us A Ton of Devs Care About Steam Deck Support - SteamDeckHQ
  • Steam deck convinced me to try Linux. I installed Mint on saturday and I'm pretty happy.

Sad that Adobe doesn't work well with it, but everything else seemed pretty hassle free

    DankPods just switched to Linux!!!
  • I did make a dual boot switch to Linux. Been really liking it so far, but I'm sad to realize that Adobe doesn't really work with it :(

I'll either have to keep windows on a partition, or I'll have to use a Virtual Machine for adobe in linux, neither of which feel awesome, but... What can you do?

Switching to Davinci Resolve is something I tried earlier, but I found it a bit clunky

    Question from an educator
  • Upon further inspection; The music teachers already have a Mac there, so setting up AirDrop is honestly a wonderful idea that we'll look further into. Thank you so much!

    Question from an educator
  • Oooh, excellent idea. I'll look into viability of airdropping. Most of our current machines at work are windows machines, so.. while it probably could work, ease of use is also an important aspect when so many of the teachers are a step below tech savvy.

Not to mention ease of use for the pupils who are often even more tech illiterate.

I'll look into it. Thank you!

    Question from an educator
  • There are only two iPads and various student groups who rotate between classes. Group 1 might be in place mondays and thursdays, group 2 on tuesdays and wednesdays.

The software is garage band, and the students all have their own computers, but they're not supposed to bring those to music class because it's too bulky for 30 kids to all bring their laptops and so on.

  • Hi, guys. I work at a school where we use iPads for music education. We've got a bit of an issue though. Some kids delete other people's music projects, and that obviously sucks.

Is there a way to lock certain files so the kids can give their own files their own password protection or something so nobody gets their stuff sabotaged?

Other creative solutions are appreciated as well!

    Thanks guys!

Edit: The music room has a Mac, so thanks to your helpful suggestions, we're gonna try with the AirDrop method where they drop to the host machine that the teacher has access to.

Presidential election popular vote tallies lined up against “did not vote”
  • Votes by mail sound a bit risky to me as well. I know the postal service has lost packages and stuff before. Are there special envelopes? Special ways to tell that the vote hasn't been lost or "lost"?

Also, is it at least free? Postage already paid for?

  • That sounds a little complicated as well, so it seems that might be a barrier to entry as well.

I can also imagine that people who have to work extra to make ends meet might not have the luxury of taking time off to vote?

  • I forgot to mention that we vote every 4 years on a municipal level and every 4 years on a national government level (offset by two years like summer and winter olympics).

  • I just looked at the primary elections where we pick the prime minister and parliament, not the smaller municipal elections.

Anyway, it's on average around 77-78%.

It's actually a bit surprising. When I saw these numbers, I thought "shit, 77% is our average? That sucks", heheh. Guess it's pretty decent after all

  • Wanted to suggest some games

Hi, new here to this instance. Also first post on Lemmy, I guess? Sorry if this is the wrong place. There was no "games"-community here, and I wanted to share with the local instance.

Anyway, wanted to recommend some games I've played recently that are somewhat "furry" in their themes.

    • Pseudoregalia A really fun N64 inspired metroidvania where you play as a goat-lady who has to escape a dream world. Extremely satisfying movement and optional costumes to earn. It's great!

    !

    • Corn Kidz 64 A really fun N64 inspired collect-a-thon where you play as a goat-kid who has to escape a dream world. Extremely satisfying movement and... Uh... They sound really similar now that I write it out, but they're real fun.

    !

    • FUGA: Melodies of Steel Tactical RPG where you control children in a big-ass tank. It takes place during """World War 2""" and sports perma-death for the children. Really dark, but really good too. Sequel recently came out too.
