63% of Gen Z Would Rather Play Video Games Than Watch a Movie — GamerBlurb
  • While I do like movies, I find myself playing more games than movies. This is due to most of the movies coming out not being to my personal taste; whereas I can always find a game that is just right. It helps that games are interactive and not just static experiences, like films.

Palworld faces the difficult choice of whether to become a live-service game or stay buy-to-play, PocketPair’s CEO says
  • Wow, this shouldn't be a hard choice. Keeping the current model of buy to play would be best, I wouldn't think that Palworld would even benefit from a live-service model, given those games seem to die a lot faster than the standard buy and play.

    Vintage rough trade
  • There is something about this image that makes me unbelievably horny. I suppose it is the voyeuristic style that this stairwell oral action is being captured in. Gets my balls boiling with sperm ready to become semen.

“Donald Trump was fired by 81 million people and clearly he's having a very difficult time processing that”
  • Kamala is highly meme-able; with her effort and a capable team, they'll drown out those Trump cultists and get uninformed voters on her side. If only that old, weird narcissist would just become an irrelevant creature sooner.

    Lemmy in a nutshell
  • They're gradually phasing out the iTunes PC App...Apple has divided the functions of iTunes into several focused apps. The second reason why I'd love to get a Mac Mini is to get my music redownloaded. I didn't back up my tunes on another hard drive, which was a beginner mistake. I did upload it to Apple Music, though.

  • ROFL Dual booting with Microsoft being as shitty as they are...Yeah, no. I very much am 100% committed to Linux on my Desktop. I might only make a small concession to getting a Mac Mini for iPhone management.

YSK: About The Sad bastard Cookbook, when time, energy, money, or skill is preventing someone from cooking their own meals!
  • Before I had access to the internet; These were basically my, 'Don't die, eat something easy' list of relatively quick foods back in the darkest, deepest depression days (turns out my brain chemistry reacts horribly to antidepressants and antipsychotics). I was just an anxious dude that didn't know it due to being heavily medicated.

One Of The Rust Linux Kernel Maintainers Steps Down - Cites "Nontechnical Nonsense"
  • To a casual user of a Linux distro; I find this news to be disappointing because Linus himself saw the value of Rust for Linux, yet hostile old hats are making it difficult to manifest. From all that I read, they didn't want or need to force anyone but the passionate to learn Rust as a programming language. Staying out of the way and letting those committed devs work without harassment would've been a saner way to deal with the Rust Linux Kernel project. Rust, based on my reading and unskilled interpretation, is a memory safe language that does offer some benefits for the OS that use it. It would in theory bring more interest towards the Linux Kernel, and that can only be a good thing; since Microsoft is way too comfortable and needs to be slapped with a loss of users that migrate to Linux. Hell, COSMIC is being written in Rust due to the benefits of the coding language. The hostility doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but people will be people, and this sometimes occurs.

Star Wars: Outlaws being a "AAAA Game" for 3 minutes
  • Yeah, this Ubislop will be forgotten, we will poke fun at its glitches. If they had tried to capture people's imaginations (but fell just short enough like Skyrim) we'd probably be talking about this game for years to come. Star Wars: Outlaws is just an overhyped cash grab.

Hyprland's Developer Is Not A Fan Of COSMIC Desktop
  • He feels threatened by the work of the COSMIC DE as this DE will basically offer a smoother end user experience without the caveats of other DEs. Once it is out of it's Alpha to Stable development cycle, of course. COSMIC will be at a big advantage of not having any legacy code holding it back, and will purposefully avoid a lot of the annoyances of current DEs on the scene. I'll let the System 76 team cook before passing any solid judgements on COSMIC. There are a few years yet before COSMIC becomes something amazing (I'm just guessing, take this with a grain of salt).

Anyone else feels like rdr2 have no bad missions?
  • I feel like the missions are pretty good for the most part; I'm pretty far in but have yet to actually play more since a frustrating random encounter. I do find the unskippable skinning cutscenes and little too long animations for doing something a bit trying. Also, the bug where Arthur will stow all but his sidearms and main weapon after riding the horse for a few minutes. When you dismount, you've got to re-equip every time. This issue is fixed in multiplayer though, but sadly to this day unfixed in single-player. These are really my only gripes, as Rockstar did a good job of approximating the feel of the late 1800s in the USA.

if you're not going to let me do this microsoft then let me turn off auto restart all together.
  • That annoyed me with Windows too, however, Active Hours adjusted to the times that I actively used my PC. As I kept my PC up to date and never kept it running while not in use for too long, I've never been threatened with a forced restart randomly. That being said, a user should have full control over their PC. They will though in turn be responsible for any poor outcomes due to making poor decisions.

I ended up choosing a Linux distro over Windows because I have absolute control over my PC at all times. Freedom to modify, to potentially break, but also easily recover my distro if I truly fuck up.

Why 🤷‍♂️ do users 👨‍💻 dislike 👎 the use ✅ of emojis 😀 on Lemmy 🐭?
  • I haven't specifically seen anyone go off the rails when it comes to emoji usage on Lemmy; I can only comment on my particular feelings about emoji: Like any tool, emoji can be used in ways which are confusing. However, the value of these little images conveying additional context to written text is useful. There is so much of the personal voice which is lost with written words, unadorned with body language, tone of voice, and facial expressions. Emoji are like a written solution to this issue (for those that don't pick up on context on words alone). I am fine with the usage of emoji.

Launch dates for upcoming Xbox games
  • I played The Outer Worlds; it was great story wise. I’m merely worried as delays have often been a sign that a game is flawed and needs a lot of work that will happen after launch.

    Fried Chicken Tastes Better Cold
  • Cold fried chicken alone is not my preferred way of eating it; I love to use it in a salad! As it hits the spot only then for me, otherwise I gently reheat before eating. Cold pizza, that rates way higher for me.

Actors demand action over 'disgusting' explicit video game scenes
  • I do agree that motion capture and voice actors should be given a heads-up about the scene they are about to shoot. Nobody should be asked on the spot to 'perform' a disturbing or explicit scene without first at least being able to make mental preparations! It would certainly help to have some more ladies assisting in the capture to make it less awkward for a woman acting/voicing such a scene.

  • www.theonion.com ‘Really, Really, Really Happy For You, Kamala,’ Says Hillary Clinton, Not Letting Go Of Handshake

WASHINGTON—Doing her best to appear elated while a large, throbbing vein protruded from her forehead, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she was ‘really, really, really happy’ for Vice President Kamala Harris as she shook the presumptive Democratic nominee’s hand and refused to let go o...

I found this satire piece to be absolutely delightful, capturing the potential rage that Hilary kept under wraps after it was announced that Trump won. It was a disappointing time, as that orange clown got the better of a far more fit person to serve in office.
