Palworld faces the difficult choice of whether to become a live-service game or stay buy-to-play, PocketPair’s CEO says
  • Same boat, waiting for 1.0, now worried I'll miss the boat entirely, but I'm not going to buy their early access for that fear mongering. They made millions, they can ensure their game lives on one way or another.

Google illegally maintains monopoly over internet search, judge rules
  • Bit confused, Google has its own browser, its own search engine, and provides a somewhat easy method to access the majority of the Internet and does it well but some people are upset because they cannot compete? What is the point in doing something so good that you become the best in the business? Everyone comes to you for your service, but you get punished because you're a monopoly? I'm thinking about Valve here as well. It's a major retail platform for PC games because nobody does it better. Publishers get upset its top dog, and their shity half arsed clients get no light.

Is it not the point of a business to make money and be good at their service that they increase revenue yearly and drive innovation?

Former Microsoft developer says Windows 11's performance is "comically bad," even with monster PC
  • I would love to swap to Linux if I could play all my games without having to dual boot etc. Steam have done wonders with the proton compatability on steamdeck so there is hope but a lot of my hardware also requires software that is windows only too.

It might be a stupid comment I'm no Linux expert, but looking forward to the steamOS coming out for PC.

Why does my printer suck so much?
  • I moved from an anycubic mega s which was fully upgraded and worked without an issue for the most part but was a faff to use, to a bambu p1s with ams and oh my god, I actually enjoy priting again. It's not 1 print a day now, it's 5-10 all perfect quality and finish. It's honestly made priting fun again and not a chore. Well worth the jump

    Well that's unfortunate
  • Quite amusing really.

One of my account managers was called S****** Hart and her email was shart@ which amused me so much.

Does Android still need third-party launchers?
  • Use nova for years, but never found an of the features beneficial. I've been using One UI since moving to the s24u and I have noticed no real difference in functionality.

15 years of Android memories – When did you get your first Android phone?
  • Galaxy s2, after being on an iPhone 3gs, Apple made it increasingly more difficult to jailbreak at the time I did not want to get stuck in their ecosystem so I bailed and never looked back.

What will you do once windows 10 is deprecated and you have to update to windows 11 or 12?
  • As 12 comes out I think we will see a lot of gamers moving to Linux thanks to the much anticipated SteamOS release. Windows 12 will still be "successful" among the general public but Linux usage will skyrocket as Microsoft break that straw on the camels back for the more experienced users.

Personally I will move to Linux, likely start with dual boot in the transitional phase and as SteamOS improves and game publishers realise they need to support Linux and take it more seriously.

Not a Linux fan at all but with my steamdeck usage and setting up Mint on a NUC for a server I've been very impressed with Linux progression. It's still not perfect, needs to be more user friendly but it is getting there.

    Pegboard PC
  • this looks good, I have saved another peg board 3d print set and plan to do this eventually. I have the board and a printer, its just the time to mess around and try to mount it as its technically custom depending on your PC setup. Just not sure I can manage with the downtime whilst I fiddle with Starfield out and party animals later this month :D

Windows Updated and is Pushing More Stuff
  • I would love to switch, I've used Linux a few times but primary use of my machine is for gaming, Valve have done wonders with Proton and the Steamdeck but imo it's probably not quite there yet?

Why do most newer phones other than pixels have little to no support for custom ROMs ?
  • I used to install custom roms all the time back before knox on Samsung, now I cannot be bothered, usually something in the roms does not work among other bugs, it takes too long to keep up to date on rooting stuff etc, the support for roms is abysmal. I started to lose interest around the time banking apps started detecting root and not working, there were ways around it with magisk but it was complicated and could not find decent documentation on it.

It just became simpler to use what's out of the box and the newer phones I started buying had very little in the way of custom roms to start with.
