Harris leads Trump in polls, but remains an underdog due to the Electoral College
  • A good example is the 1981 election in New Zealand, where the Labour Party won more votes but the National Party won more seats and formed the government.

All car owners will pay road user charges by 2027
  • The current system of excise tax rewards those with efficient cars (though not EVs) and penalises big polluters.

Unless this comes with an additional carbon/pollution penalty this is going to be great news for V8 Commodore drivers, and terrible news for everyone driving a Toyota Aqua.

In the mean time, salty EV owners get to pay triple the road tax per km that a petrol driven Prius does.

Intel denies RMA requests for its faulty 13th Gen, 14th Gen CPUs with instability issues
  • They were relatively quick to pull the 1.13GHz Pentium III from the market when it turned out to have stability issues from pushing Coppermine too far.

This feels like a repeat of that, but with Intel sticking their heads in the sand and screwing over customers instead.

How to make an EV tire that won’t pollute the environment
  • Much heavier than petrol cars if they’re not on a bespoke EV platform or designed poorly. Slightly heavier than petrol cars if they’re designed properly.

Eg a Model 3 and a Toyota Camry are the same weight and almost identical dimensions.

It’s weird to me the weight thing keeps coming up when discussing EVs but not the petrol cars which have been growing bigger and heavier for years.
