When Comedians Stop Being Relatable
  • I've defended Chappelle a lot, seen him four times live in London UK. I've liked a lot of work and specials. However there's some stupid fascination with hurting trans people and I can't do it no more... Him bringing Musk onstage was a "fuck em" moment for me.

I hear James Ancaster anytime I hear anyone complaining about trans people or wokeness: https://youtu.be/adh0KGmgmQw

Rudolf also opened up about the bizarre "lipstick scandal" that has followed her since 2007. She was 20 years old when three players accused her of cheating with a microchip hidden in her lipstick after she played the tournament of her life and beat a grandmaster. Yes, you read that right: A microchip in her lipstick.

  • +1 for Wezterm, it also had image support that Alacritty didn't have, which I needed for Yazi to work.

I've heard good things about Warp too but Wezterm is where I'll be for now.

  • I know it's not Matt's fault and that he took over from the last guy.

However, it's true incompetence as to how this happened in the first place. CEOs are so overpaid and to fuck up that much and still walk away with like 45 million or something, it's staggering.

  • Pfft, only losers have landlords. I'm forty and I'm living with my parents!

    Wait, are they my landlords?

  • But like, what financial benefits do they get from this? Like the country itself. I'm really bad in this area. Like, do they buy property or set up a thin business? Does that pull in enough?

  • There's something really satisfying about running a script that you know would save time. Even if the overall time is probably a negative.

I wrote a script that would log me into our AWS EKS stuff. I typically would have to copy these 7 lines and look up which cluster version I'd need. One of my lines just pulls all the clusters and I use fzf to select the cluster I wanted. Takes away all the pain and makes me feel smug. Love it.

  • I've had weird issues with my keyboard not working in the first minute of booting. I tried all the grub stuff. I was using Ubuntu and Pop, and tried Arch all the same. I'm very impatient so this surprisingly is a deal breaker for me.

I eventually used different ports on my mini PC for it work on boot.I know for most people that'd be the first thing they'd try, but like it'd work in Windows with no tinkering.

I'm happy going back to Pop OS! now like this and I think I'd like to try Arch in the future again.

  • I'm gonna try to "steel man" this: It's a lot of dumb fun with harmless, non-political games and interviews with other celebs. He's generally likeable and has musical talent and people look like they're having fun on the show.

Honestly though, I don't like Fallon, he annoys me. However, I've had friends that used to send me lots of clips of his like with Andy Samberg and him playing this quick guessing game and I was like, "meh, it's alright I guess". My friends also like James Corden so take from that what you will.

  • I remember wrestling with that for years. I dunno, my last interpretation of it was the fact that if it was rare and considered an exception then the rule has a point?

I dunno. I'm more than likely wrong but that's as far as I could go with it.

www.wheresyoured.at The Man Who Killed Google Search

Wanna listen to this story instead? Check out this week's Better Offline podcast, "The Man That Destroyed Google Search," available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and anywhere else you get your podcasts. This is the story of how Google Search died, and the people responsible for killing it. The story...

It's a story from April, I tried seeing if it was posted before, however it's the story about how the advertising and finance team beat the search team into submission by ousting the core person protecting it to pursue "growth" and "revenue" at all costs.

Just popped up in my feed. I loved Starship Troopers as a kid, not knowing the satire underneath. Anyways, it's a nice interview.
