  • Not a cartoon but close enough!

  • Just use appimages. Works for a lot of things that don't require full integration.

  • I'm afraid that's kinda just how it is... with the dating apps at least. If you're on a dating app, you're a disposable swipe. I had 3+ dates with this girl recently, and I was starting to think that this could be a thing, and then se fue. Silence. Not even a thanks. Anyways, that's kind of how it is apparently.

So here's my recommendation instead. Go and do shit. With other people. Don't try to date, try to open up the possibility for a date to happen. And then don't chase it, let it happen. Eg, go and learn salsa dancing. (As an introvert, it was a real hard thing for me to do (understatement), but it was so worth it.) Or join a hiking group, or Dnd, or pub quiz, or just anything that gets you into different social circles, meeting new people, where you aren't a disposable swipe, you're a team mate.

Also, don't read into other people. Sometimes people get busy with their lives, or have a crisis, a million reasons why they ghost you. It's not you, it's them. Girls don't take apps seriously either. They are expecting 99% of douchebags, and they would be 98% correct.

Final tip, get a gym buddy. That does wonders for ADHD, depression, confidence, energy, etc etc etc.

Tl;dr, apps suck, go get involved socially, work on yourself.

  • My money is on doing nothing at all is enough for them to royally screw up.

  • That was my first thought, but these are algorithmically/procedurally driven, not AI driven. Which makes them highly reliable, configurable, and consistent. Unlike AI machines which will hallucinate cup holders everywhere that are too large or too small to hold any actual cup.

  • Ah I see. Well it's like the old saying goes, "I'd rather pay a ton of money to get AI robots to fuck everything up really badly and then go back to paying workers a barely livable wage, than pay workers a livable wage in the first place and not waste a ton of money."

  • One broken system is enough..

  • Definitely in my top 5 fav bands ever. They are so underrated!

  • They've figured out how to convert AI outputs into electricity??

Give your feedback to Reserve Bank on digital currency here:

  • Whenever I hear things like this, I ask 'What's the problem they are actually trying to solve?'

Most of the time there is no problem, it's a solution looking for a problem. In this case, it seems like the only problem to solve is:

Today, New Zealanders still cannot make instant payments electronically to other people, unless they are both with the same bank."

I'm pretty sure that could be solved with a middle-man app instead of a 'digital currency.' Venmo exists in the US, something like that?

I'm sure we have had similar.. TradeMe has Ping which "Make payments safely with Ping. Pay or get paid instantly – using a credit or debit card, or Ping balance." .. so, yeah problem already solved, instant payments.

  • The movie clearly shows that the robots acted as if they felt pain and suffering.

I thought the ending made it pretty clear that in the end, they are cold calculating and very intelligent machines with no actual feelings or compassion, and we had been deceived the whole time. My interpretation I guess, but I feel like that makes the movie better.

  • You're over-reacting. It's probably only death at worst. Most likely 40 years.

  • Lutris can be pretty handy for many things..

I don't have too much exp with these things, but I would suggest (as an IT support person) narrowing down and isolating problems into specifics, like:

    • I need dot.net for x thing and I tried y thing and it didn't work.

You'll be able to get better answers. I'm pretty interested in the suggestions, my usual solution is 'find something open source that is not as good but works.'

  • There should be an app or something for this..
