Best way to do it would be adding some genetic fitness signalling to internet dating.
Yeah, I may look like a serial killer and my political views would make Hitler blush, but check out my genes, baby!
Maybe he's referring to "middle-class" in the original, British sense. I.e. lawyers and other professionals.
30k is still a big whack of cash for a professional. They might have to send their kids to a state school!
Yeah that is silly esp as he himself wrote an article on how there are certain bands of experience you know and understand and how much there is outside of it. He is so bad at applying his own words to his own reasoning. Yeah sure the middleclass has another 300k to spare on their kids (I'm rounding the 0.5 kid up, no half kids today).
How many rounds of IVF is the poor pregnant partner, inevitably a cis woman, meant to do? Isn't IVF infamously fucking gruelling, requiring injections and ending in miscarriages? Is her husband going to make her feel like shit for refusing to make being pregnant her full time job? A massive amount of reproductive labour is just being taken for granted here.
And if these EAers refuse, the reproductive labour just gets passed on to other women. Grimes didn't want to have another kid with Elon (aren't they nonbinary? I'm sure it might have caused them dysphoria) so Elon persuaded one of his fucking employees into doing IVF and being their surrogate because it's important for smart people to have kids. (Source)
Reproductive rights - never more important!
Indeed, super casual. Disturbingly so.
"2 of the triplets can't read at grade level; the plus 5 IQ option didn't deliver enough utils in my Monte Carlo simulation."
they will not stop until everything organic can be machine readable
I'm just going to pretend that this thread was instead about IV breeding Pokemon. I don't need to see a casual expression of some of humanity's worst ideas on Reddit.
Do not give SSC a water stone.
Uggggghhhhhhhhhhhh
Should really be doing screen shots or an archive link so we're not driving traffic to reddit.
That said, fucking wot?
Is "polygenic" a real word or is a SSC shibboleth?
It's a real term, meaning "influenced by multiple genes", but who knows what weird baggage SSC have around it.
"How dare you call us eugenicists!"
Is that top reply from Scott? And is he really saying that what is holding eugenics back for now is ethical concerns?
Well I certainly hope ethical concerns are holding back eugenics. Possibly even among the main things doing so.
I think when we say 'held back by ethical concerns' and he says 'held back by ethical concerns' it means different things.
yeah, you know those guys who talk about the prospect of artificial intelligence taking over and destroying humanity? this is them, this sub sneerclub is about them, and this is the underbelly of their wonderful beliefs
"congratulations", you've found the people who are pushing its rise, the ideologues penning the bigthonks underpinning the bad takes
it is very much a thing, unfortunately
