I'm surprised he'd want to come back - I'd heard really hurt his back filming the first movie and it happened again in the second one. Something about having to carrying both movies single handedly...
98Tbf, the second movie was quite good, even outside of him. He had a lot of support from Knuckles, and Tails and Sonic were very fun together.

I like the movies and he's my favorite part about them. I just wish they would keep the human family crap out of it. The human story sub plots are by far the most unnecessary parts. I rather them dig deeper into the lore of the creatures and characters. If that makes sense.
41I didn't mind the family subplot of the first movie.
But then they resolved it. Life was good.
You don't need to redo the same family drama for movoe 2/3/4/5 etc

18Remember reading at some point that Jim Carrey was set to “retire” after Sonic 2 had wrapped up. Maybe he just really likes the character?

17Yeah, he said that after the last one, but it's hard to take anything he says seriously. Maybe he was just tired of answering questions about "what's next" or maybe he was negotiating for more money.
I think he's great in the role, and I've enjoyed both movies, so this is all good news.

God this makes me happy. These movies are incredibly stupid, but then again it's Sonic the hedgehog so who cares, but he was so great in them. It was just so good to see old school Jim Carrey you know?
Idris Elba is amazingly brilliant as the straight man in the last one too. Dot dot dot randomly pops into my head all the time.

3In general the movies were pretty good, but I couldn't help but be a little put off by Robotnik's far right wing undertones along with all the product placement.
0In stuff like this I don't give a shit about product placement honestly. When it's a movie that's just incredibly stupid dumb fun who gives a shit, you know? And then there's shit like the power rangers where I still, to this day, say the Krispy Kreme product placement was brilliant.
Because, after all, it truly is a special place.
9I can't remember the Power Rangers one off the top of my head, but my go to example of good product placement, that was even integral to the storyline, was the movie Evolution. Head and Shoulders was so subtly woven into things in act 3, then right at the end all the main characters did a bit promotion, and that part had me laughing my head off.
Olive Garden was just randomly shoehorned in, not once but 3 times, with the first Sonic movie. That really broke the immersion for me and harmed my enjoyment.
Maybe not being bothered by it is more of a US thing, what with the nature of TV ads over there.
