I struggled through the font and weird format but never found a joke. It feels like the point is that sometimes developers just want to write code, whether it's necessary or not. Perhaps OP (who seems to be the author) will weigh in
Junior dev saw it as "we can do it ourselves" until they were reminded that time is limited and we have to choose what we do with it. Then they almost seemed to have a transformation/realization in that moment, but the unexpected twist was that they were still trying to take both paths, instead of picking one, which we all know means they won't get the best of either. Or maybe they're just coyly accepting the other path while trying to keep up the original appearance.
I think the joke is supposed to be that the gray lumpy figure is a female and yellow spiky figure is horny for her? I'm not sure, I can't get past those cracked out facial expressions.
Off the shelf software always promises to do what you want it to... But we've always found it fails to deliver and end up having to code a solution around it anyhow.
Its obvious the artist has put in little to no effort in challenging their abilities and thus has made no progress in their skills over years of doing the exact same thing.
