What started “weirdo” as a slur just recently?
  • The problem is, they are weirdos. You can’t make up stuff like the video of JD Vance in the donut shop. It’s hilarious.

    Sleeping tricks
  • My partner and I have recently started a new routine. We take an evening shower, then no electronics or tv until we get into bed usually about an hour later. We also stopped eating 3 hours before bed.

We are barely a week in, but it has made a huge difference in our sleep already! I’ve been sleeping better and more relaxed before bed, which makes sleeping easier.

As for actually falling asleep, I count backwards from 100,000. It really helps quiet me down and let things go. I rarely get past 99,950 :)

    HTH!

    Edit: words are hard

Federal court: TikTok may be liable for a 10-year-old's death
  • Where were the parents? This isn’t Gen X, kids these days can’t be left alone without doing something stupid. TikTok is not a replacement for a babysitter.

I’m not saying TikTok isnt at fault for their shitty algorithms, but why is a 10yo on TikTok by herself in the first place? I can’t believe TikTok’s TOS would even allow that age to have an account.

TIL that in Victorian London mail delivery routes would go by every house 12 times a day.
  • I’m lucky if I get mail once a week. I literally get a pile of stuff with a rubber band around it once a week at best. I’m not in a rural area.

  • What are you running in your home network?

I was gifted a new Raspberry Pi. I already have a previous pihole setup and now looking for other ideas to run on my network.

I was considering a network monitoring tool. Any other suggestions?

IMO, The US has crumbling infrastructure, corrupt government, dangerous cities, and a lot of homelessness, among so many other problems. Hell, millions of people in the US don’t even have power right now.
