  • @Nead@vivaldi.net Yes, I have a frame picked out but I never ordered, so I'll have to do that... I do have other pieces of his artwork framed and unframed around the house.

  • @kr1st@mastodon.radio @stu@gott.social Heh, I like a place with a little character like that... Although wet oyster shells on the floor might be a bit much. :) I've eaten at a few places where discarded peanut shells on the floor was a thing.

  • @pmonks@sfba.social Haha! Or if you spot those little Blair Witch things hanging from some branches... 😁

#PhotoOfTheDay Is a red hot pair on tongs fresh out of the forge. Blacksmiths use a lot of tongs... I love the look of red/orange hot steel!

#PhotoOfTheDay is of humorous metal sign for sale at a Kauai market. I also like the tsunami evacuation plan sign to the right, where the #1 item is GRAB BEER. 😁

#PhotoOfTheDay is of a young girl swimming along under the water, hands in the sand, in Hawaii. Underwater photo taken with a GoPro.

#PhotoOfTheDay is a pano from my drone, complete with rainbow, over my town of Manteca, California.

  • @Chef_Boyargee@lemmy.world So that's what it is! 😁 We always enjoy seeing various geckos on Hawaii, especially when they are eating bugs on a lanai for us. But this one really stood out. I think he appreciated us gathering around and oohing and ahhhing at him. Or her.

#PhotoOfTheDay is this insanely bright-colored gecko, hanging out in at Limahuli Garden & Preserve, National Tropical Botanical Garden, Kauai, Hawaii. Cute little guy!

#PhotoOfTheDay is the Kīlauea lighthouse on Kīlauea Point, on the north shore of Kauai.

#PhotoOfTheDay is of my kid in his happy place - a cozy warm sleeping bad, inside a tent.

#PhotoOfTheDay is a taro field on northern Kauai... Hawaii just isn't lush enough, lol!

  • @mlanger@mastodon.world It sounds like it was a memorable introduction... I always loved that piece, it was so evocative, even though it was a long time until I knew the story behind it. This photo always reminds me of it.

#PhotoOfTheDay It appears I've stumbled into an Andrew Wyeth painting... GoPro view of my Land Cruiser on a lovely hillside in the spring, Hollister Hills expansion property.

  • @z_mcfate@shouldagoneoffroad.com NIce! We've been up there 3 or 4 times I think. Once was very cloudy, and we could see a puffy cloud coming right at us, then pass through us! That was a pretty cool experience... I also like how when it's clear and you look out over the Pacific, you can see the curvature of the Earth. Fun place... Maui has a lot of cool spots like that.

#PhotoOfTheDay is not Mars, it's Haleakala crater on Maui. It's such a great location for this and other amazing views, I consider it a "must see" when visiting Maui.

#PhotoOfTheDay An old Jeep Cherokee XJ in mid flip during a recovery class at the second annual Overland Rally & Workshop at Hollister Hills, maybe 2011?

  • @WY7AA@mastodon.radio Nice. I think I still get the Conservancy emails... A month of camping in Yosemite sounds awfully nice! But I bet it's really really busy then.

  • @Delta_V@lemmy.world Right again.. Why did I think one only had one? It's a mistake that I've made before. Not sure how that got stuck in my head. I blame old. šŸ˜‚

  • @tamonten@mstdn.social I saw that the video was up but haven't had time to watch it. But now I'll have to!... Back in the second half of the 80s I built a resin kit of ED-209 from Japan, it was quite good.

  • @tamonten@mstdn.social It wouldn't surprise me at all, although the full size ED-209 model was very large and I think the pieces were vacu-formed, so those would have some from a. very large model!

  • @Delta_V@lemmy.world You are correct, I see the two vertical tails, not just one, when I zoom in with a proper size screen. Will edit, thanks.

#PhotoOfTheDay is of an F-14 Tomcat with burners lit over San Francisco Bay during Fleet week some years ago. The Bay Bridge is in the background.

  • @WY7AA@mastodon.radio Agreed! I love it so much... Where do you volunteer, if you don't mind sharing? I know there are a lot of quite varied opportunities there.

#PhotoOfTheDay is a favorite of me and the fam, not taken by me but by a nice lady using my dSLR at Yosemite Valley. My favorite place on Earth! A copy of this photo is framed in our entryway.
