OK fuck
The first picture was a cute silly meme out of context
But the rest of the conic made me super emotional.
What the fuck is this, I love it. Like literally what genre or format or whatever is this sort of thing? Like a surreal long form emotional webcomic?
Idk exactly, but maybe some type of cozy fantasy?

It seems like magical realism to me
Lots of "comics" are like this, actually.
If you're on Instagram i can share some artists with you.
I think this is about depression. Replace "turned into a deer" with feeling depressed and the comic works with no other change.
I'd picked up on that as well
That’s a good guess, and I just want to add that the tumblr post where I stole this comic from used the tags “neurodivergent” and “autism”.
Except for the second-to-last panel. Why would their partner say that "it's nice" that they're depressed? Maybe it somethin they're thinking but (if it is) it's shown in a confusing/misleading way.
I think, "It's nice." Is a continuation of the narration. "All my friends are there.... It's nice."
That's the narrator saying the party is nice. No speech bubble.
Deerpression?
It's pretty fucking obvious that's what it's about
What is in the deer's eye in the last panel? A reflection? An alternative that never was?
I take it as their distorted reflection of themselves in that moment, starting to regain their humanity in their own eyes.
As their (assumed) partner said, "you don't look like a deer to me". Taking that with some assumed weight, we're looking at how this person sees themselves. Something weak, helpless, prey. They can't do anything besides try to keep surviving.
It's in taking the time with others, being treated as a person, they begin to feel it, see it once again.
I took it as the opposite. They were finally feeling like old self again for a bit, but then got faced with the deer in the mirror.
Fun fact: the artist is a neuroscientist.
Nokotan?
Kafka good ending?
Kafbi or Bambka?
i mean turning into a normal deer rather than a massive monstrous beetle is a slightly better start to things
on a scale of curses this is like a 5/10, definitely gonna change your life and fuck up a lot of plans, but it's better than being a quadruple amputee.
This is some really good art, thanks for sharing! I like the facial expressions.
For the interested: the artist also posted a newer version to Reddit with a nightmare between the fridge panel and the "waking up" panel.
This reminds me of something that would be in Flight
