- Me too. I turned to Qobuz. Not available in many countries unfortunately.

- Here too. Went to Tidal (which is problematic in its own way), but it's not using AI and funding genocide, and it pays more to artists, so...🤷‍♂️
TBF, it's more that Spotify allows 3rd party to add to artist pages without artist consent than any ai stuff. It was happening before ai
- I would be in serious trouble if i let my brother run a meth lab out of my storage unit outside of town. If Spotify is allowing people to post that content, they should be held liable.
  
  Slippery slope with this one. At least in the US. It's known as the safe harbor law, and without it indie sites like Lemmy instances, Peertube, other ActivityPub software and a whole slew of other sites just wouldnt be able to exist due to the sheer amount of corporate bullying that could happen.
  I am NOT saying that Spotify should not see public backlash, nor am I saying that Spotify should be allowing this to happen. The analogy that you have provided though would imply that all websites should be responsible for their users actions. That would allow people to completely bankrupt any website by uploading a bunch of Disney movies.
  There should be some sort of regulation or safeguard in place. I do agree with that.

Youtube music is just as bad.

- Navidrome is the way but does that solve the problem?
- I still use YouTube music because it doesn't have DRM and I just can't find any other service as convenient as yt music. I use the ReVanced version of its client, though I could also use 3rd party ones.
  
  Problem is every time I hear a new artist, I have to stop what I am doing to research and see if they are real or if I should 👎🏻 them. And you have to do it for each of their songs!
I've been considering cancelling my Spotify account for a bit, and this has pushed me off the fence! Good riddance to active manufacturers of bad rubbish

- Me too! I originally stopped because the CEO is a major bastard and I didn't think my premium money was going to the artists I loved like it should, and crap like this just solidifies my choice
