“As far as I’m concerned, we’ve got to protect the children. We have to be able to disrupt intruders,” West said at the demo. “We saw what happened in Uvalde. School resource officers were hesitant to go into that room, and so what you’ve got to recognize is, there’s a danger for them also, but they are there on the front line.”
But it wasn't just the school resource officers not going in, was it?
The cops had assault rifles and ballistic shields and flashbangs and body armor. What makes you think one more toy is gonna make a difference?
They’re still citing uvalde? Fuck uvalde. They don’t actually care. After the massacre Uvalde county overwhelmingly voted for every sheriff, judge and politician who caused it. They had a chance for change and they instead voted Republican all the way down. Uvalde clearly don’t care about their own kids and community so why should I? All my sympathy for those people evaporated.
A tragedy that exposed what police are really about...
And normie republicans still don't get it
Uvalde was a communication cluster fuck, not so much cop cowardice. It's fucking painful to watch, but here's the definitive documentary on what went down that day.

CAVEAT: You may scream and cry, I did, but that day was probably not how most think it went down. It wasn't so much scared cops. It was cops utterly paralyzed by a broken chain of authority and broken command and control infrastructure. I'll never watch it again.
You know what the real solution for the problem is? Banning schools! If you don't have schools, you can't have school shootings!
They could just teach children at the churches.
Or after their shift at the slaughterhouse
Decentralize the education? You lemmings have a one track mind…
Schools are cutting funding for free lunch programs but are supposed to have funds for this?
Well, duh?! How else are they supposed to protect children from school shootings? Banning firearms?
Starving kids make for smaller targets?
ED-209: ILLEGAL THOUGHT DETECTED.
ED-209: IMMEDIATELY STOP. YOU HAVE 20 SECONDS TO COMPLY.
Teacher: You better stop thinking independently, Kinny.
Kinny: stops singing Captain Planet themesong
ED-209: YOU NOW HAVE 15 SECONDS TO COMPLY.
ED-209: I AM NOW AUTHORIZED TO USE PHYSICAL FORCE.
This needs to be the second panel of one of those "Hey America how's it goin?" memes.
beautiful.
If this happened in China we would call it ridiculous
I assumed this was the onion....reality wins again.
The high-tech drones, which are piloted by a team of former military men and nationally ranked professional drone racers,
For now. Eventually when they've got these in every district they outsource drone piloting to save cost, either to India or AI.
Honestly, im not 100% against the concept. It's like a sprinkler system, but for shooters. And i reckon school resource officers aren't held to much of a standard either so...
That's a good point about the wifi jammers i admit. But I don't know of any active shooter events that involved someone who put that level of thought into it, not to say there arent any its just... idk.. Couldn't be that hard to swat it out of the air in a hallway...
Shooting reported on school campus.
Teach pulls out gun to protect students from shooter
Teacher mowed down by drone.
How are they supposed to know who the shooter is? If it's just finding the one with the gun, then I assume you have to ban teachers from bringing guns again.
That's why we need to invest in better facial recognition technology and keep detailed records of the movements of everyone in the world. How else will our autonomous killing machines know who the bad guys are? It's for your own good citizen.
I mean, presumably the pilot would be able to tell because the teacher with the gun is barricaded in a room with students theyre not shooting
If they're using anything other than shit tier components they can have a load of different control and video frequencies on different drones, all in the same building. No serious drone is gonna be reliant on fucking wifi, unless it's a child's toy lol
I mean. I always see stuff to indicate the shooters put a shit ton of thought into it. I have yet to see one were in the morning they were like. lol gonna gun it up.
Can’t wait til China hacks into this.
I… vomited (boofed?) the onion on this one hard. After reading the article, it’s not actually as bad as it sounds, but I don’t trust that there’s any way to encrypt or bar access to these drones that will stand up to all of the kids in Texas schools.
“When we think about it, it's less militarizing than having police officers carrying guns everywhere."
The article doesn't mention a single school actually buying this system.
Becuase this is a shill op article that twill be used to sell schools these "drones"
Goddamn Texahoma. Your school administrators are the bad kind of crazy.
I recently finished a historical novel where an old man asked a boy if he was an Oki, and the boy replied he's from the Texas panhandle. The old man replied they're the same thing, so your comment amused me.
This is ridiculous. Clearly the solution is for Elon Musk's Boring Company to build Hyperloops underneath each school, to allow students to escape quickly in their Teslas.
$550,000 per month, an elite team of drone racing pilots, encrypted command and control system.
All defeated by a $30 WiFi jammer from Alibaba.
This isn't even security theater.
Why would you get a drone controlled thru wifi? It's just dumb, at worst they're only sending video somewhere around that frequency
Unless they're fiber optic drones, they're vulnerable to jamming. It is trivially cheap and easy to buy or make a device that spews noise across a wide range of frequencies.
You can buy devices to jam all WiFi and cellular activity in a few hundred yard radius for under $100. (This is a felony in the US, so don't do it... but I imagine mass shooters don't adhere to FCC regulations).
The answer is clearly ceiling mounted remote controlled gun turrets — running over ethernet and fiber — in every room.
