Why do I have "Do You Hear The People Sing" from Les Misérable going thru my head when I look at this picture?
I know we have a lot of Statseian comrades on here, especially now after the deprogram sub ban, and this might be controversial to say, considering the state of the place over the past day or so, but I really don't care about Charlie Kirk enough to see how it warrants this much meme posting when there is so much other concerning shit going on at the moment.
It makes me wonder if there is a concentrated effort by the powers that be to latch onto this story and push it to the forefront of western discussion to distract from something actually important, like Poland potentially triggering war with Russia, or the fact that the civilian aid flotilla to Gaza has been getting relentlessly firebombed, or that theres a color revolution in Nepal underway right this moment.
I was hoping to find some discussions on these things from a socialist standpoint, but it's wall to wall kirkposting so far. idk, seems fishy.
I'm pretty indifferent to this type of US domestic drama, but i think a day or so of discussion is fine, we can allow our comrades from the US that much as a treat. But yeah, after that the news cycle needs to move on, there are much more important things happening in the world.

Yeah, honestly I agree. I mean I kinda get it, but it's a huge amount of posting for a (relatively) minor event. I logged in today mostly to see if anyone was talking about Poland and I was met with a barrage of posts about a guy in the US getting shot. I dunno, I'm not convinced he deserves the fanfare.
Yeah, exactly how I felt. I was thinking "damn, Israel just bombed Qatar, I'd like to see what Lemmygrad thinks", and it's the same meme 50 times over.
I don't even think the Luigi incident got this much when it happened, and imo that was actually more worthy of being memed since it was in a way actually useful as agitprop.

The army is increasing drills it seems. I was just vibing with my morning coffee when like 5 helicopters flew over, making a lot of noise. A while ago an airplane flew over pretty low. On top of that they accidentally torch natural parks from time to time. Fuckers.
should all go as planned, i'm going to be a full member of PSL in the very foreseeable future! it's not much in the grand scheme of the struggle, but working with and connecting with a community of beautiful souls who are genuinely committed to building this thing right here in the backyard of my smallish city has really been something 🥲

I start my vacation now - my cousin is gonna do my hair & I'm gonna take a nice long day trip on Wednesday. Then I leave the state to visit my best friend for a few days. Things are looking up!

Well it's back to society again after travelling around for nearly two weeks. I spent my time in some pretty isolated places where even my phone's network couldn't reach so apart from some camp site wifi I didn't have any connection to the outside world. Didn't really follow the news either. It was nice spending time away from it all, just focussing on the day and on whether I could surf that day or not. It was an almost spiritual experience to just experience life in a small town surrounded by nothing, vibing with like minded people with not a care in the world.
But back to reality now. On my way back I found myself stopping at a gas station near a large city and it quickly smelled like home again. Exhaust fumes, grease, loud noises, sirenes, honking, etc. I had to eat one of their plastic looking sandwiches, which made me a little depressed.
At home there is apparently a drought. Several bodies of water around our parks have completely dried out. The trees are having a hard time and there isn't really any serious rain around soon. Fun times.
Hot take: countries that don't speak English natively where they teach children English in school below the age of ten are too Americanized/westernized.
Same goes for countries where they have to have the English translations on all road signs and information signs
i think it's more of a tell that we are literally educated to serve the USian market, not necessarily means that our countries are americanized or westernized. Tho at this point, mandarin should be part of the curriculum too, i would say it's far more important than english at this point since for really 99% of industries, if you want to acquire machinery or some input, you're going to need to get a chinese supplier.

When I was in Elementary, our schools had an English-Only Policy where speaking our national language (Tagalog) outside of Filipino classes was penalized. We also have an entire market for overseas work (OFWs or Overseas Filipino Workers)

Don't kid yourself the DSA organization is a trap. There are comrades in DSA but the only reason to join is to help comrades see they are in a dead end energy sink that is controlled opposition to sap them of their revolutionary potential. If you don't get kicked out for being too radical you aren't doing it right.
There are a lot of conspiracies around Kirk's murder and none of them make any sense. I've seen "distraction from the Epstein files", "whacked by Mossad", "Ukraine/Russia did it.", "False flag". There are actual schemes being carried out by shadowy forces out there and I sincerely doubt a conservative debate YouTuber being assassinated is one of them.
The US has had 3400 mass shootings over the past decade(s) or so. This doesn't even involve single casualty shootings, which is thousands more. Chicago alone had more people dying due to gun violence during the Afghanistan war than US soldiers dying in the actual war.
With this much violence happening, and with a political climate this unstable, something like this is bound to happen. The odds of the shooter being a radicalised lone wolf is much, much higher than it being a false flag imo.
Instead of putting on our tin foil hats I think we should focus on spreading the word how adventurism is not going to solve our problems, but rather that we need to build a workers movement.
