Where do you even get a hold of communist pins? I’ve debated getting some myself (subtle as I don’t want to be attacked) but I don’t know where would be good to get them.
You can find some on websites like Temu, but they won't be named "communism". I found one here. I've noticed they frequently get resold with a big margin on western sites. This way you will directly pay the producer.
So I was walking through the city this evening when a guy started talking to me. Thinking he was some sort of street sales person fot whatever internet company or something, I politely told him to leave me alone. But then he said he was collecting money for Palestine and I felt bad. He was raising money to send water filters to Gaza. I donated of course but I still felt shit lol.
My mental health has deteriorated horribly since uni started back in September. I hate university so much and I don’t think it will ever be a good experience for me, since I’m not a very sociable person and I find myself very irritable lately…
I want to find an alternative (my main interests are the gym and programming) that at least gives me enough money to live, because I’ve accepted I will never be happy. However, my parents seem to hate that idea and have tried their hardest to keep me from dropping out. It’s been hard.
With that being said, hope you all have had a good week!
I'm gonna be real. I'm getting tired of seeing news articles about things that are obviously going to be happening under capitalism.
Yes they are privatizing everything. Yes they are killing everything and everyone.etc etc etc.
Is there a community, or an interest at all, where we can post something and talk about praxis?
So instead of "they are ruining healthcare!". Could maybe have at least one community where it's:
They are ruining healthcare (article) and my town and I have started organizing against it.
Or : there are so many homeless! (Article) we started this mutual aid group. Any advice?
I just think it can become a distraction from real action constantly reinforcing what we know, without an effort or recognition of each other's praxis.
I get where your coming from but I'd also like to point out that for me personally these articles come in pretty handy when I'm discussing these things that we know will happen with friends that don't. They're a useful tool to back up my arguments when I try radicalizing people, as it's helpful to be able to point to specific instance where these things are happening right now, in an effort to convince others that theories established long ago are correct.
You're right of course. I suppose it's frustrating knowing there are dozens of us and we don't have a place to share successes and failures of praxis. Maybe I have internalized the sentiment that social media is a distraction from action.
The Dutch socialist sub is having a proper funny infighting session this week. Two or three MLs (though they seem to be ultras actually) are constantly starting shit about NATO being evil and the socdems and libs are getting mad about it.
Is the dutch socialist sub poldersocialism?
I browsed it a couple times but it looked like you got downvoted for talking positive about lenin or the USSR so I stopped browsing
I just finished this very good video of a dutch sociologist exposing how dutch socdems are a imperialist war force in service of NATO (and how NATO destroyed Yugoslavia)

Drone was intercepted near Dzerzjinsk last night. Yes, it is named after Felix Dzerzjinsky. No, it's nowhere near the Ukrainian border. If fact it's further away than Moscow.
Was just watching the new Coaster College video about the roller coaster accident that happened in a park in Shenzhen last October, and while the video was good, man, so many of the comments are exactly what you'd expect about anything related to China
The funniest ones were the "made in China" ones, when the coaster in question was made by a US company 😂
It's also pretty funny for people to act like there's fewer repercussions for Chinese companies for this kind of thing, when the video even mentions that the investigators sent by the city directly recommended criminal charges against multiple managers from the park in question, which is wild when these sorts of accidents in the US almost never result in anything resembling criminal charges, usually the people responsible don't even face any consequences
It's also interesting to see people mention it as being unusual that the Chinese government is so open about something (since the investigation info is available to the public), unfortunately I doubt they'll look at this and question anything else they've been told about China's government
good translations require actually checking out every individual word to make sure nothing goes wrong, think about reading "I walked to the ball." You either imagined that as a little round thing or a grand ceremony, that happens in every language, and only gets more confusing the further from your language you go. Not to mention translating culture, translating words that dont have a 1 to 1 with your target language, trying to translate how a society views certain concepts or ideas, and translating a joke is absolutely insane to watch the process of.
I failed first year math once and physics twice. I now have a physics degree with a math minor and engineering minor, and will be submitting my master's thesis in physics this month.
Edit: I forgot to say that this comment is quite inspiring really. Knowing that you’ve accomplished so much even with a few slip ups, it does make me feel less alone and at ease. So thank you for that.
This is sort of the mindset I’m trying to have. I only really need a C- to get the credits (I’d rather get higher so my GPA doesn’t suffer) but I know failing these first exams isn’t the end of the world, I have other exams/quizzes/assignments to make up for it. Thankfully after this term I will be done with psychology and I can focus on History and PoliSci.
Maybe but even if I did horrible I’m not to stressed about it, those three classes have a second midterm (my online course has four) to make up for it plus quizzes and assignments (that make up a huge chunk of the overall grade) and the final of course. Maybe I did surprisingly well but considering I had to guess a lot I’m thinking not lol (I’m not stupid I just didn’t study as well as I could’ve since they came too fast). Thanks for the vote of confidence!
I wish finding games to play was easier. I yearn for affordable entertainment. Nothing sparks joy. No, I do not accept the depression diagnosis. A good game would cure me, but all new releases are buggy messes or/and have barely any content with most of stuff locked behind paid for DLCs. And for some reason a lot of games also heavily go into either a blue or a sepia tint all over which makes me sick.
What console do you play on? If you're on PC you can check out itch.io and download the free stuff. There are tons of indie devs making cool stuff on there, it's like the flash game websites of old
