Not knowing what monkey bread is, I gotta say this looks disgustingly fleshy.

It looks like you got a bucket of orange chicken from the cheap Chinese place around the corner and dumped it on a plate...

...but I know what monkey bread is and I know it's delicious

- Yeah, I feel like that's a core part of the experience here. I don't know what monkey bread is and this looks absolutely revolting to me.

  Best way to describe it for the uninitiated: think...cinnamon rolls but instead of rolling the dough, you slice it into a bunch of pieces and smash it back together again. After baking, the pieces separate easily

- It looks close enough to the Joshua Weissman one, which I've tried and can recommend for sweet or savoury variations. I've done it like this, and with pizza; it's basically brioche balls in a bundt pan.

Maybe if it had icing it would be more visually appealing? Or maybe the lighting and photo compression makes it look worse?
