Not knowing what monkey bread is, I gotta say this looks disgustingly fleshy.
51ReplyYeast dough with cinnamon, eaten by plucking pieces of of the loaf.
18ReplyOr monkey brain instead of monkey bread.
11ReplyThat sounds delicious. I'm getting very mixed signals here

Yeah it kind of looks like a bundt cake made out of boneless chicken wings

You sharing???

It looks like you got a bucket of orange chicken from the cheap Chinese place around the corner and dumped it on a plate...
...but I know what monkey bread is and I know it's delicious
29ReplyYeah, I feel like that's a core part of the experience here. I don't know what monkey bread is and this looks absolutely revolting to me.
15ReplyBest way to describe it for the uninitiated: think...cinnamon rolls but instead of rolling the dough, you slice it into a bunch of pieces and smash it back together again. After baking, the pieces separate easily
I've never seen it look like fried chicken before, though. This is what I'm used to:
There are more pictures on this recipe
14ReplyMore like monkey brains, right? Its probably still good though.

17ReplyI'm pretty sure I saw this stuff growing on the walls in dead space.

7ReplyI love monkey bread.
Would also love to see a recipe lol
7ReplyThis was an experiment, gotta write it down, then I can share :)
8ReplyI experiment with cooking all the time... but to experiment with baking? You are a bold one...

It looks close enough to the Joshua Weissman one, which I've tried and can recommend for sweet or savoury variations. I've done it like this, and with pizza; it's basically brioche balls in a bundt pan.
4ReplyRight on, Weissman is out there on his videos, but his food is usually phenomenal. Much appreciate the info!

Reminds me of the Mystery Flesh Pit National Park.
6ReplyThat must be excellent, someone already ate it before.
Sorry I could not resist, thanks for sharing.
5ReplyI like covering the whole thing in the same kind of icing as a cinnamon roll. 🤤
4ReplyGod bless monkey bread.
3ReplyMmmmm.... monkey bread!
3ReplyAre you sure?
2ReplyMaybe if it had icing it would be more visually appealing? Or maybe the lighting and photo compression makes it look worse?
