The Biden campaign has joined Truth Social, the social media company founded by Donald Trump, to troll Biden's once and likely future general election opponent.
“We just joined Truth Social, mostly because we thought it would be very funny,” it explained. “Follow us there for truths and retruths or whatever they call them.”
This is a hilariously big-dick move. Biden gets to put his agenda right in conservatives faces and all the yelling they will do in the comments are just yelling into the echo chamber but there's a non-zero chance that at least one person changes their mind from it which is a total win for almost no effort.
Good old Web 2.0, where you post death threats to the president next to your real name and a picture of your real face so they can be sure they've got the right guy.
I like the idea of Secret Service enrichment activities being exactly like dog enrichment. They just release a bunch of Government mooks into a room with some of those doggie treats puzzles, but I stead of beggin strips, it's full of domestic terrorists addresses.
To be honest, physical virility isn't that important to me.
The only reason that aspect matters to me re:trump is that he claims to be healthy and of certain dimensions, but clearly isn't.
No matter what your physical self is, as long as you don't pretend to be fuckin superman, you can have my vote if I can get on board with your policies.
Which is exactly what they want. If they can get trump to ban them they’ll easily show that they are a bunch of snowflakes who are full of shit when they talk about free speech.
About as good of a endorsement as taking the stage at a Trump rally and laughing into the mic indefinitely while they boo. That is to say, it makes a fun story but it's not exactly a endorsement.
I mean, I’ve already seen comments alleging users here joining to watch, which is bringing traffic and engagement so the platform is being fed.
That’s really all I’m on about, it’s minute but it’s all I thought of when I saw this.
Couple of hours ago I saw video on yt with title "Biden joins Truth Social. THEY ARE DESPERATE"
I didn't watch the video so idk what was acually said.
Some years ago I watched conservative content. Even though I dont watch it at all anymore I still sometimes get shit like this in my homepage.
Yup, I watched part of a Tim Cast (never heard of him before the yt recommendation, nor consumed any similar content previously) video, a lot of it was unhinged and I clicked out quickly with the ramping hatred intensity and rage baiting.
It took like a year for yt to stop recommending me similar far alt-right bullshit because I watched maybe five or ten minutes of a Tim Cast video
You don't have to click on a far-right video. You can also get them when you click on a progressive video, or a medical video, or a gaming video.
When Amazon first introduced their "People who liked X also liked Y" feature, it was hilariously easy to manipulate. You could just spam links back and forth and within a few minutes, "People who liked The King James Bible also like A Hand in the Bush: The Lost Art of Vaginal Fisting".
It didn't take too long for them to put a stop to it but decades later, are we actually sure content suggestion algorithms are any better at withstanding manipulation?
The far-right aren't exactly good people so I doubt they're saying "Sure, I openly celebrate mass shooters that target minorities but I draw the line at using sleazy techniques manipulate content suggestions".
Don't. It still gives them active users. One account is fine. If we all start doing it then they get to show actual growth. Investors don't care if it's ironic.
I'm actually happy to see this: The pushing of conservatives off silicon-valley platforms is magnifying the polarization in America because people went from algorithmic filter bubbles to true information bubbles.
Nothing matters, you’re right. Everything that happens doesn’t matter after enough time . That’s irrelevant though and if you don’t want to discuss meaningless things then don’t post.
But it does mean a damn. Maybe not to you... But it means a lot to some people. Also, I'm not sure how any informed person can say "it doesn't matter" post Cambridge Analytica.
I'm really happy to see this: The pushing of conservatives off silicon-valley platforms is magnifying the polarization in America because people went from algorithmic filter bubbles to true information bubbles. The Internet is very much bifurcated into conservative and liberal echo chambers. It's a small step but it's a step.
Wait, hold on a sec, what do they mean "Bidens likely opponent"? You mean to tell my, the Dems are gonna go with Biden again? I thought it was a one time thing, because they didn't have anyone else, and that in four years they'll find someone.
It's a shame that the best Democrat candidate for 2024 is an eighty year old man. Not saying he is senile or whatever, but why 80? Can't even wrap my head around this shit.
I sincerely wish there was an age limit on becoming the president. Admittedly, Biden himself is doing pretty well for an 80-year-old man, but people that old will always have outdated opinions and politics.
That would have been the case had Trump faded away at all. Unfortunately, he has as much support as he ever did. Now the logic is that the person most likely to defeat Trump is the person who has already defeated him once before.
this isn't why America is divided what lol. It's divided because of misinformation and an education system that is totally failed so critical thinking is fucked.
It's divided because people believe every whacked out conspiracy theory and even policy makers make policy on said conspiracies.
It's divided because the super wealthy want to remain in power and it's easy for them since money is allowed in politics.
