As mentioned in the previous post, the Governance community is now live. I have refactored my affiliations lookup script to be more accurate and have added everyone's application affiliation to their threativore flairs.

I want to say, y'all are pretty creative and keep coming up with favorites I've never heard before. I still have quite a lot of uncategorized answers to go through, but most of you have been assigned a tag.

As a way to reward people who are coming up with unique answers, the first person who registers with a new favorite, also gets the

first emoji assigned.

A few of you seem to mention people who are neither anarchists, pirates nor foss (advocates). Usually, and unless that person is a complete reactionary or PoS, we let you through. However you don't get a first

for that. Instead, you get a snowflake
flair, because you're special like that 😜

Finally, quite a few people registered before we even had an application form with which to request your affiliation. So as to recognize all you early birds, I have now added a fresh flair

early_bird and is something nobody else will be able to get ;) Thanks for sticking around here for the past 2 years!

So without further ado, here's the updated stats from this run. I will do another run once I've categorized everything I don't know yet

Btw: I've set up this thread in governance for a reason. If you leave a comment here, the bot will reply to you, with your list of flairs. (Still waiting for a UI designer to step up and integrate them on the UI itself 😅)

If you think I've made a mistake with your flairs, let me know.

  • Leave a comment at top level to get a reply with all your flairs

EDIT: There was a bug with the bot getting confused about people who registered with usernames having uppercase characters. I have now put a bugfix and it will seek correctly. Later on I'll refresh all other comments posted already

  • Just checking, but are the emojis supposed to be that big? They're taking up more than half my screen width. I'm using Voyager on Android. Normal emojis are the usual size, slightly bigger than the standard text size.

(plus, of course, I want to know what my flairs are 😁 )

    • That's a voyager issue really. For some reason it's not resizing them as needed. The normal lemmy ui and tesseract are showing them in line correctly. This needs to be brought up to the voyager dev.

Your emoji means there's no emoji. If you posted one of the three affiliations might mean you are one of the 500 or so whose favorite is unknown until now

      • Ah, I'll pass the emoji issue on, thanks. I've only really seen the problem with Hexbear's own emojis, but just assumed that it was something to do with the nonsense they're always accused of.

I can't remember what I put in on my application now, but I think I put Blackbeard, then said something like just kidding, and put a digital pirate. It's been a while though, and my memory's not that good 🙂

      • Just to update you, I posted a thread on the Voyager community to double check that it wasn't just a problem on my end, and a few people have replied with similar screenshots from other clients and a PC. If I log in to lemmy.dbzer0.com on the PC without using Voyager, I still get large emojis from this instance, but nowhere near as big as through Voyager, either on mobile or PC.

I've just tried Tesseract on the PC, and both here and Hexbear show the emojis to be roughly the same size as regular emojis. My guess would be that it's a client issue, but I don't know enough about how this all works. The thread is here if you're interested :)

  • I forgot to come back and comment because I'm on painkillers and got stupid distracted.

      • Very generous to give me a trophy, but I guess that's the value of only knowing the one pseudonym! I dream that I live in a world where someone else applied and they talked about the exact same person I did, but using a different name, and neither of us knew we were talking about the same person. The world is so magical when proper infosec is observed.
