Shadowheart from Baldur's Gate 3 was originally "more sassy" and had to be "heavily dialed down" after one of the devs said "I really don't like" the character
In my playthrough (which I'm still working through so no act 3 spoilers please), I couldn't figure out how to open the pod she was in at first. I ended up shooting something overhead which fell and put caustic brine everywhere. When I finally opened the pod she jumped out and immediately died to the brine. I've never actually heard her speak 😅
On one hand, maybe having the child maltreatment victim crack jokes all the time would be a little inappropriate. On the other hand, that describes like 4 people I know.
Same, though I have to say when I let him have a little blood and he went too far, I forced him out of my party on my first play through. But oh boy is he necessary on a Dark Urge play through. The dialogue is just so worth it.
I thinks she was cool. I liked almost all companions, especially Lae'zel, Gale, Shadowheart and Astarion. I disliked Karlach, and Wyll was meh but not terrible. I didn't get to play Minthara though because I didn't know she was a companion and killed her in Act 1... 🥲
I always liked hanging out with the punks and metalheads though.
I've known entirely too many people that had the real life personality of Shadowheart and Astarion to really like them though. Gael and Wyll just seemed like entitled shits; not the worst, but not great people.
I didn't get to play Minthara though because I didn't know she was a companion and killed her in Act 1...
Oh my gosh, you too? I swear there are so many of us 😭
I'm doing a co-op play through with friends, and one of us accidentally started combat with her and killed her. We didn't even realise we were missing someone until Act III where there's a visible empty spot where she clearly should be and we googled the roster of companions.
So now Shadowheart is easily the most agreeable companion in the game since she approves of everything good or bad you do as long as it does not involve Shar or Lae'zel.
When it was first made available to the public I played about an hour or 2 and then stopped so I didn't spill the game. My one big take away was that I really hated all the companions, especially sheart.
