Republican representative accuses agency’s acting director at hearing over response to Trump assassination attempts
Summary
A U.S. House hearing on the Secret Service’s response to assassination attempts against Donald Trump devolved into a shouting match between acting director Ronald Rowe and Rep. Pat Fallon (R-TX).
Fallon accused Rowe of endangering President Biden and Vice President Harris for a photo op during a 9/11 event, which Rowe denied, calling the accusations politically motivated.
The hearing follows criticism of the Secret Service for failing to prevent the July attack on Trump, which killed an attendee.
Rowe admitted to “abject failure” and outlined reforms, including drone surveillance and better coordination with local authorities.
Yeah, if he left there was a 0% chance they were going to let him go back that day. Probably would have had his ass on Air Force One circling inside 20 minutes.
Fallon accused Rowe, who was standing directly behind Biden and Kamala Harris in [a photo from a commemoration of the 9/11 attacks], of taking the place of the special agent in charge that day and endangering the president’s security for the sake of a photo op.
Call me crazy, but I doubt that a Texas Republican actually cares much about the safety of politicians in the opposing party.
The fact it was an R told me everything I needed to know — that the accused SS agent is not corrupt (or corrupt enough) for fascists to utilize, so they're scapegoating him as the "deep state", and will replace him with a true believer.
Everybody involved with that first attempt on Trump's life deserves to be yelled at at the very least. I hate to say it but that was just a klusterfuk.
