There appears to never have been any thought by the oligarchs that have brought us this fascism that it did not work. That giving absolute power to one person is a mistake even when that person isn't a deranged asshole to start with.
It didn't work for the rich people that wanted to protect their investments from the Socialists, and that is about exactly what is going on here, our rich were so scared of a little moderate reform that they created a monster they cannot control that will destroy them if they get what they want destroy them one way and or another.
They think they are in charge, that they will never run afoul of the supreme leader, that the supreme leader will not tank the economy in 12 different ways, and go ahunting oligarchs to seize their assets. All very mistaken and all going to happen sooner than later.
For the life of me I’ll never understand the Authoritarian mindset.
Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus is a fucking cakewalk compared to understanding the personality differences between Authoritarians and normal people.
Maybe the rich and lazy are actually just dumb as fuck? Scared all alone in their castle sitting on a throne of gold, they'll believe any con man.
My theory is that it's less that they're truly dumb as fuck, but rather that they're not particularly special -- or does that make them dumb as fuck, LOL? -- and there's almost a dunning-kruger like effect. They see how powerful they are, able to act with near-impunity, and they don't realize how much of that has to do with whatever distribution of power and hesitance to use state violence exists in the flawed but democracy-ish systems they're currently dominating.
That's my question too. Hitler shot himself in a bunker. Fascist governments don't often work out for themselves. What's the end game for Trump here?
Hitler was in his 40s when he became dictator. He had 12 years as ruler. I wonder if trump thinks that if he could get 12 years as dictator then it won't matter if he has to shoot himself because he'll be in his 90s.
The strategy here is start later in life... biology moves faster than the law or politics.
From one of my favorite (and very wordy) comics: https://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0763.html
What do they care about their eventual, shitty diaper encased end if they can wield the power and be looked at as a god by their cult?
Stroke on a burger?
Very rich people are generally not very smart, beyond being sociopathic manipulators, if you call that a form of EQ.
Very rich people are either pampered and priveleged old money, or ruthless two faced psychopaths. Or both.
Neither of these things really requires any kind of artistic creativity or much analytical ability or broad knowledge set or metacognition / self reflection.
There ya go.
It doesn't have to work forever, it has to work for now.
I get where prez's head is at, he is losing it as we speak, falling asleep during televised meetings, reading off of teleprompters as often as not. But everybody else going along with the supreme leader mold is just quite mistaken as to how that will work out for them. I suspect the end result will be a Joseph stalinesque results. Not a single person in leadership will be alive as Supreme leaders tend to get paranoid as shit.
Religion, a severe form of mental illness, is the greatest threat humanity faces.
Right?
If I said a flying purple people eater was my lord and savior and that flying purple people eater died for our sins but not before his father, a flying spaghetti monster, instructed an old man to build a space ship that a few humans and two of every animal on the planet (and I guess all the plants too) went on and orbited around the Earth while the flying spaghetti monster supreme being was fucking the surface of the Earth up and then repopulated the planet from space afterward and I went to a pineapple under the sea every Sunday to worship both the flying spaghetti monster and the flying purple people eater, who are actually the same being.....would you say I had a severe form of mental illness?
They walk among us. And they're clinically insane. And a lot of them have guns.
Exactly why we'll never find peace in the middle east. Too many people, whether from opposing religions or even the same religion, quietly listening to their invisible friends constant urges to bomb one another.
Good thing there's an easy and simple litmus test to tell between harmful religion and benign religion
I mean Hitler did kill Hitler, that should count for something about getting into heaven.
Buuuuut you also don't get to go to heaven if you kill yourself, idk how killing Hitler balances that out.
Thou shalt not kill.
Kind of a click bait-y title. They claim there is no afterlife besides heaven, Hitler is dead, therefore Hitler went to heaven. In their mythology, hell doesn't exist.
They're also a raging antisemite who thinks the Nazis did nothing wrong and fascism is the only way to save America. So in a roundabout way the title isn't that wrong.
Kind of a clock bait-y title. They claim there is no afterlife besides heaven, Hitler is dead, therefore Hitler went to heaven. In their mythology, hell doesn’t exist.
Oh, that's actually not a terrible idea if you believe in an absolutely good deity. No matter how much pain and suffering you cause during a finite time you are alive, it can't possibly justify being tortured in hell for eternity. You wouldn't go around saying Hitler went to heaven, but I can see them being put on a spot and having to concede this unpopular point.
They’re also a raging antisemite who thinks the Nazis did nothing wrong and fascism is the only way to save America. So I’m a roundabout way the title isn’t that wrong.
Oh. Oh no.
They’re just trying to make Trump feel better since he’s been wondering lately if he’ll get into heaven.
Hitler no longer exists. We do, and we have to confront the reality that people like Hitler still find their way into civic office where they can seize power and bring ruin to us all.
It's not a good thing for us to imagine a divine justice that balances out the evil wrought by persons past. It may be a brief comfort to suggest that Hitler burns in Hellfire, that Mengele, after living a long life as a fugitive, died a free man, that Heydrich's torment didn't end with his dying battle against sepsis, but in the end we have to come to terms that nature is unjust and if we want a world in which good folk thrive and wicked folk fail to survive, this is a society and an institution we'll have to create ourselves, from scratch.
And so far, we suck at it.
Better yet, ultimately we should recognize that people who make poor life choices are still surviving the best they could. In a working society, Hitlers and Trumps would not rise to power, and Heydrichs and Himmlers would not be able to exploit the biases of the system to elevate themselves to aristocracy-adjacent positions. In a working society, the only thing to gain with civic power would be the satisfaction of the fulfillment of one's duty to society... and that one gets to direct the movement of mountains and the construction of bridges for the betterment of all the community.
It's boring, but personally I'd rather constrain wars and torture and genocide to the confines of fiction. Make sports news, whether tragic or glorious, great again.
In other words, there is no justice. There's just us.
It's up to us to make justice a real thing, because there are no cosmic forces that will do it for us.
A friendly reminder that she was a Prager U staff.
PragerU and discovery institute are ground zero for religious brain rot & bootlicking lessons
She was also part of the highly astroturfed "#walkaway" movement - a group of supposed "liberals" who left the Left to join the MAGA side. She is a grifter of the highest level.
Awful shit aside, I thought people generally believed that you don't go to heaven if you commit suicide?
It's a primarily a Catholic thing. The reasoning is that for every sin you commit, you must ask forgiveness (confession). By committing suicide, you have committed a sin but cannot ask for forgiveness and are thus condemned.
I never understood why you couldn't ask posthumously
Can you beg for forgiveness before doing the suicide?
Most Protestants also regard suicide as a grievous sin. Some of the more liberal Protestants accept, with some hemming and hawing that assisted suicide might not send you straight to Hell. As for the fundies, I don't believe there's a consistent consensus view.
I grew up in an evangelical church, and it most certainly is not a primarily Catholic thing.
True story... saw a documentary about it starting Keanu Reeves
Yeah... God once told Peter "whoever kills this Hitler dude goes straight up, no questions asked".
God later blamed a bac of .12 for his decision, and brought up how awkward it was to have his Jewish kid keep running into Hitler.
Let's assume god was ok with someone ordering the extermination of an entire group of people. Hitler died by suicide and the last time I checked that was still a no-no.
The torture, the sex crimes at all levels, reducing humanity to chattel and ash. If there's a god that approves of any of that, I'm staying atheist (in fact, the "problem of justice" is a philosophical argument against god, and that applies very much to the holocaust).
I’m staying atheist
Great. Now he will burn even more people. But you do you.
/s, "obviously"
Let's assume god was ok with someone ordering the extermination of an entire group of people.
Don't need to assume, we know for a fact he endorses it.
Deuteronomy 20.
16 However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. 17 Completely destroy[a] them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the Lord your God has commanded you.
A separate fun fact, zionists believe Palestinians are the descendants of amalek. I'll leave what that implies as an exercise for the reader.
Depends on which group of people. The Cannanites are fine, but Jews were a no-no!
Well, God IS quite okay with genocides, AND he killed Hitler. Of course he went to heaven
According to whom? (Referring to suicide being a no-no. This is not Holocaust denial.)
Not sure we were all told he killed himself. Who knows someone else could of pulled the trigger. But regardless no way he went to heaven. He would have never asked for forgiveness but in his mind he did nothing wrong.
could of
Sorry, what?
Don't start looking into the research about the skull we were all told to be his.
All the atheist collectively rolled their eyes at the same time.
If I believed in religion, I would be very mad at these idiots insinuating that a mass murdering dictator would have any chance of getting into heaven.
This Hitler restoration trend is terrifying.
Just makes me thing of this gag from the IT Crowd
Pope Francis went on the record saying he hoped Hell is empty. Torturing even the worst person for all eternity is overkill in my opinion, maybe after 500, 5000, 5 million years of celestial reeducation, if he really put the effort in, Hitler's soul could be free. He's only human and given the absolute worst circumstances and decisions I believe any of us could end up fucking up as bad as him.
FWIW I dont really believe in an afterlife but I do want to believe in universal redemption, as difficult as that can be sometimes.
FWIW I dont really believe in an afterlife but I do want to believe in universal redemption, as difficult as that can be sometimes.
I'd like to believe in pie in the sky too, but I don't. The only justice in this world is what we make, and it's a rare thing when that happens.
True that, Justice is sacred but only when we respect her enough that she remains in this world. As Rome was falling, Justice was the last of the great virtues to leave.
Depends, would the worst person torture humanity for all eternity, and never change their mind?
I think measured against an infinite time even the slowest person would come around. Life is short and nobody is absolutely, perfectly evil, maybe colossally so, more than enough to fill 100 years of a spiteful and bitter life but always in a finite way.
Believe it or not there were people that have done things just as bad as Hitler that have been genocides the world round and for centuries. Hitler wouldn't be the only one in that circumstance. But in my mind fuck them all they all deserve an eternity in hell if there were such a thing. I'm hoping there's nothing after this life that way we all just disappear and dissipate and life is what it is and how we lived it is how we lived it.
I’m afraid I’ll go to heaven
That’s why I’m hoping that I'm right
My biggest fear ain’t no red Devil
It’s being near you people all the time
I’ll be fine as long as you go somewhere else
One of the most chilling accounts of the holocaust, is a person describing being ushered on a train, being told, they are being relocated and they will have a hot meal and clothes and blankets when they arrive. The approach a huge hill, with a big line, the guards gleefully telling them they will get hot meals and everything else as soon as they get in, this guard of course was playing a cruel joke. His mind destroyed by the depravity of the Nazis.
Then the victim describes topping the hill to see mass graves and they arrive at a station where a Nazi looks in their mouth to see if they have any gold and silver teeth, and proceeds to yank them out before they get into the camp. That is Adolf Hitler. There is a reason people refer to him as the most evil person. Sure others killed more indirectly, but Hitler killed millions systematically and with intention. Pure hatred and pure depravity and pure existential nihilism.
Other thing these far right psychos were doing, human experimentation, vivisection, (operating on people while they are alive) to do medical experiments. Freezing people to death to see how long it would take frost bite to kill them. Mind control and brainwashing experiments. Testing drugs on them. One of the guys who was operating on living prisoners was named Joseph Mangdeleve. After the war he was sent to the U.S to work with the CIA and eventually ended up in a psychiatric hospital in Canada where he ended up operating on live human test subjects once again. All of this within full knowledge of the entire U.S, U.K, and Canadian government.
When you realize the full history of what the U.S and other right wing governments have been up to, Epstein seems fairly tame in comparison. Epstein is nowhere near the worse person the U.S protected and essentially made into a spy with diplomatic immunity.
When you refer to Joseph Mangdeleve, are you confusing Josef Mengelev (Nazi doctor, escaped to Argentina, drowned at the beach in 1979) with Ewen Cameron, Scottish doctor involved in MK ULTRA in Canada and the US for the CIA, testing LSD on mental patients?
Cameron wasn't associated with the nazi party, although his experiments were probably inspired by Nazi work including Mengelev, who did do lots of experiments on concerntration camp victims, especially twins.
Pretty sure I've killed more in Stellaris.
Let's see: Stolen the lands of lithoid species, purged some cute murder geckos that tried to annihilate my civilization, purged some sentient fungi, purged some space foxes because they were in my future property, deactivated some ancient robots, turned sentient plants into food, purged some xenos that dared to look human but not quite and blew up some stars for funs.
Lil Adolf is just a noob in comparison.
Which says a lot about the quality of Fox "News" and their so-called "experts".
This is where we are. The fall of a once mighty and respected nation, for the sale of clicks on a virtual landscape.
Trump is too stupid to coordinate window drops of rich people. Vance scares me as he isn't stupid...
Vance scares me as he isn’t stupid…
he's just so flexible. going from 'trump is hitler' to being his running mate puts the spinelessness of a sea cucumber to shame.
But he has less personality than the couches he's violated. He's not popular and that's all that matters to the maga base.
Any intelligence he allegedly possesses means nothing, Vance is completely leashed by Peter Theil. If Vance became president he wouldn't do one single thing on his own, without getting permission from Theil first.
Obviously they would see Hitler as the good guy.
Maybe God wanted to attend to that one personally.
god doesnt have time for him, sent metatron in his sted.
That doesn't sound like it would fly even in the most religious communities.
I think it's based on an old quote of Hitler claiming to be Christian which is clearly on votes. But anyone can claim to be a Christian. By their fruits you will know them.
ANYONE who Opposes Hitler is a TERRORIST!
-Our Government LITERALLY Yesterday!
... to be with his kind.
All the cool people are in Hell.
Ooh, baby, do you know what that's worth?
Ooh, Heaven could be a place on Earth
They say in Heaven, eugenics comes first
We'll ethically cleanse Heaven until it's just like Earth
Ooh, Burn Down Heaven till it's a place like Earth
I had started liking that song again thanks to the Black Mirror episode, and now it's ruined again.
What I immediately thought of when reading the lyrics
Definitely in my top five of the series.
Proof? Someone convince this guy to record a video for us in heaven
Where he can choose the smallest pineapple every day instead!
If there was a heaven, he'd have to be there so residents could queue up and kick him in the balls.
Well, ball, anyway.
Karlyn Borysenko. That's the "expert" being talked about here.
I think crazy undersells her.
fascism might actually be our only option to actually defeat the left
Now, my political stance aside, I think anyone who is in this mindset is someone who is having issues understanding how a Democracy works. Or Republic or whatever she is feeling like calling it today. She's really famous for getting hung up on incredibly small details about words and what they mean. So meaningful debate with her is nonexistent.
She's definitely one of those all bark but if there was an actual outbreak of violence in this nation, be the first one on an airplane out of the country. So, to me at least, her opinion is vanishingly insignificant. Especially in the domain of how to approach any far end political group. Because, anyone who feels violence will solve something is someone who has no real solution.
Also she gets super hung up on education and she should stop trying to be Governor or whatever aspirations she has, and go get on a school board or something. Being a talking head on Fox isn't any kind of distinction, they have random people yapping all day on there.
But her saying "Hitler went to heaven", that tracks. It's just that the color of the sky in her head is that special. Also, if there was a heaven and Hitler's in it. I'll be more than happy to take the opposite (which that's the point of their argument that the opposite doesn't exist, again special colors of the sky there). But her perspective of Hitler is mostly fueled with incredibly poor understanding of World War II. But there's no point is discussing that matter with her because, you'd have a better chance convincing a wall that it's a window.
Again, it's a lot to do with the whole "what do words actually mean?!" kind of argument with her. It tiring trying to ask her what the fucking weather is at the moment while you are both standing outside. She's THAT kind of person to debate with. But it's whatever, takes all kinds to make the world go round. I wouldn't invest a hay penny in anything she has to say, but everyone is free to do whatever they want.
Only makes sense.
Where would Hitler feel more at home; Heaven or Hell?
/s
Lol. Gggggghost!
No he didn't but maybe my hell is his heaven?
Well, he's the guy who killed Hitler, so...
Absolutely in line with the mindset of the current government, yes.
This is nothing new. Christians have been treating this as a thought exercise for eighty ish years and evangelicals and Mormons have periodically decided it was brownie points for them to forgive hitler.
There was an article thirty or so years back that did a deep dive on orson scott card that argued the Ender Series was a thinly veiled example of this.
Fun fact, heaven as described in all religions doesen't exist, Ergo that "expert" is wrong.
if this person does not believe in universal salvation then they are not going to heaven.
Sorry, but this is canon: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=42oucm_lj50
The basic universal question: which lied first? Trump or Fox?
Depends on what the lie is.
Call me crazy, but I don't think anything is going to get better in this country until we cancel anti-American propaganda networks on American television.
I've been around long enough to have witnessed Fox "News" and dipshits like Rush Limbaugh cause the current mania we're experiencing.
It really is all on them. It wasn't like this before they showed up.
