Getting wrapped in a blanket, sitting in front of the PC with a bowl of Nachos with Cheese and playing Factorio while watching or listening to true crime videos/podcasts.
Honestly my nails are so thin and brittle they break if I look at them too hard and painting them myself never stays on for more than a day. If you have strong nails get a gel manicure and if your nails are like mine I get gel with acrylic nails and fill them in every 3 weeks.
When I have enough saved up, I go to a friend of mine that's an artist and make a request, especially if I've made a new character recently. It feels like I get to have my imagination put into visible, concrete form.
I highly recommend basically anything from Sally's Baking Addiction. I've never had one of her recipes fail, and they've always come out absolutely delicious to the delight of my family and friends. I also like her site because she actually covers a lot of details about what's important to pay attention to in each recipe, which substitutions work & which don't, qualitative as well as quantitative criteria for each step, and both metric and US customary units for ingredients.
Recent award-winners include her SchwarzwƤlder Kirschtorte, Seriously Fudgy Brownies, Maple Pecan Tassies, Gingerbread Cookies, Very Peanut Butter Cookies, and multiple cheesecakes based on her classic recipe.
I also recently made Claire Saffitz's chocolate layer cake that was featured in NYT Cooking.
I've never had one, but I've been considering getting a sports massage. Do you have a specific type of massage that you like? What do you look for in a masseur/clinic?
You'll have to try different things to find what you like! I get a lot of deep tissue and therapeutic work done.
I also am a massage therapist, so I'd be happy to answer any questions!
Waiting for sun in my area š Lately, on days we get sun, I've enjoyed lying down in a sunny patch on the floor and watching the clouds. Pure serenity
Small charcuterie board. Nothing fancy: a salame, two cheeses, olives. Then I open some wine or beer (depending on climate - I'm fine drinking sangria now in the summer but I'd rather not do it with this).
That's specially fun when my sister is visiting, since my sis and my BIL also love this stuff.
Oh man I am treating myself with white nectarines rn!
Found a neat trick, the house is freezing so I didn't want to bite into a cold nectarine so I threw it in the oven at the lowest setting for like 10 mins and it came out SO JUICY AND SWEET!
Ever heard of chocolate covered espresso beans? Most better candy shops have them, as well as some coffee shops. Think peanut M&Ms except with espresso beans instead of peanuts.
Lately it's been beans and toast? Weird, but I look forward to it. Can't eat tooo many beans ofc, for social reasons, so that's why it feels like a treat
Often it's on technical subjects, but not always. Most recently I read an academic paper on a new method for accelerating the execution engines of dynamic programming languages. The new copy-and-patch technique allows such an engine to generate more optimal code very quickly and without manual programming of machine specific hand tuning that is often not economically viable.
Speaking more recently, I enjoyed reading a paper and this article about the paper. "What Is It Like to Be a Bat?" concerning the mind-body problem.
Friday morning breakfast. Lately I've been making fancy pancakes. Last time was apple cinnamon pancakes with real maple syrup and a honey-vanilla compound butter. It was divine.
Every now and then our Lidl (in Germany) has a French Week. The Muffins they sell are amazing. They are filled to the brim with chocolate cream and the amount of sugar in these things will hit your brain like a truck.
Incredibly unhealthy. But I donāt care. They are like sweet crack.
Therapy can help. I also had suicidal thought and after a year and change of weekly sessions life is a lot more enjoyable. Won't pretend to know the mental health system in your area, but it's something worth pursing. You deserve happiness just as much as anyone else.
I feel defeated when good people here say they feel like this. There's so much I'd offer to fix this feeling people have. I really wish you the best if not actively able to help in some way.
Hey for a store bought brand Ghirardelli is pretty good, its my go-to sweet when I'm on keto.
Honestly it's a lot better than 70% of the 'artisanal' supremely overpriced coarse ground hippy dippy small batch chocolates that are apparently all the rage with foodies.
This would generally very quickly stop being a casual conversation saying stuff like that, there's no point to it. Most of us get it, we're not here to be reminded.
