With them deporting and/or murdering a lot of people working low-end jobs... Yeah I don't think Americans want to do some of those jobs. The folks that have said raising the minimum wage would raise prices for everything are going to find out what happens if you raise the wages making sure there's no-one who would do the job.

My mayor, Keith Wilson of Portland, made a great point over the weekend in the midst of Trump's attack on the city that's stuck with me.
To paraphrase, since I've heard multiple versions of it, "Imagine if instead he sent hundreds of engineers, hundreds of teachers, or hundreds of addiction specialists."
Trump has no interest in improving America, only in being a strongman dictator.

We treat these professions as a public cost that drags the economy with debt and taxes. By contrast, ICE and the National Guard are always somehow paid for with free money.
There's never anything in the budget for engineers or teachers or physicians. Only armed thugs.

The problem is the local yokels outside the city don’t see this as a good point, but as him being a sniveling fool who needs a Real Man like Trump to run his city. And that’s because they have a very different worldview.
Most same people, like us, see being bad or good as something you do, and as such, with proper care and help and education you can do better.
They, on the other hand, see bad and good as something you are, a sort of fundamental birth stat that can never change. That’s why they think these ICE raids are a good thing, that’s why they want prisons to just be wholly punitive, that’s why they’re fine with writing off whole groups. Because those people are Bad, and so they will always do Bad Things, and only naive fools think that Bad People can become Good.
The really troubling part of their worldview, though, is a lot of them seem to think Bad radiates out from these people/groups and infects things around them.

Violent criminals are good for the Trump brand. Ultimately, they would prefer a string of high profile Iryna Zarutska stabbing incidents and Charlie Kirk shootings, because it helps to justify their gestapo tactics and their disregard for any rule of law.
The goal is to ethnically cleanse the United States. But the optics have to be about these endless crime waves that justify squads of masked thugs dragging mothers away by their hair and beating delivery drivers on the street.

There's some interesting implications here. ICE is well documented as wearing body armor and carrying heavy weaponry. In a planned ambush or head-on attack, an opposing force might be inclined to show up with overwhelming odds and a lot more firepower. It's classic escalation. It would almost certainly be a lethal firefight.
Now that I think about it, regular folks might be inclined to gang-up if they consider themselves under threat. If they're not already.

This so much. Imagine growing up around gun violence and poverty. You could easily end up in a gang where you commit a couple of armed robberies and are involved in a couple of murders. The question is, what will this person do when a some wannabe gestapo show up trying to arrest them.

To our eyes int the UK, I think many see this as it is. A completely unlawful horror. A significant minority, and growing, are however buying into overtly blaming migrants, brown, black etc. for anything. My family, friends and community are recieving increasingly open comments for being brown, with specific abusive terms. It is getting ugly.

The UK has had its own racism problem for a long time now (honestly, have they ever NOT had a racism problem? They were slightly less racist than the US though, in that they abolished slavery much earlier). They exited the EU to get rid of all the immigrants. You know, the ones doing all the jobs they didn't want to do, for less money than they'd want for it.

Well, I looked up ICE and MS13, and turned up this in seconds, posted 8 days ago according to Google:
WASHINGTON — U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) officials today announced the results of stepped up efforts by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the departments to target and dismantle MS-13 – culminating in the arrest of 267 in the U.S. and overseas.
And this is literally from less than 48 hours ago:
BALTIMORE — ICE Homeland Security Investigations Baltimore, alongside the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Baltimore County Police Department and the Baltimore City Police Department investigated a case that resulted in convictions for three MS-13 gang members.
So...looks like they are in fact doing what you're saying they claimed to be doing. "Didn't send ICE after a single street gang" is literally a lie.

It's too bad there doesn't seem to be a profit to the cartel gangs to come out and fight the ICE gangs. They'd win if they did.
they are mostly in mexico though, and i heard prices of cocaine dropped because trump pulled most of BORDER police out to fight assist ICE. leading to unabated drug trafficking.
