Wear your seatbelt
Wear your seatbelt
Wear your seatbelt
I had someone once put their seatbelt on when I asked, and then took it off again once I was moving. So I pulled over and said to put it back on, and keep it on, or get ready for a long walk.
The audacity of some people.
I have sat for nearly 10 minutes while the unbelted person fumed mostly silently
You get one chance to put it on before I pull the car over and put it in park. In this case I turned the car off, pulled out my headphones, and started watching Lord of the Rings on my phone.
The best driver in the world can still get T-boned at an intersection or rear ended at a stop sign. I'm the one driving, you will abide by my safety rules. Take your own vehicle or ride the bus if you don't want a seat belt.
People really need to watch some crash videos with people without a seatbelt, you become a fucking projectile, I have seen one where two women are sitting in the back one without a belt and she slams really fucking hard into the other one that had a seatbelt, as in you can hear the head on head on contact.
For frontal crashes if someone is sitting behind you without a seat belt, they will literally crush you to death above a certain speed.
My car does not move until all passengers have their seatbelt securely fastened. Gotta problem? You can fuckin' walk.
If you're going on a drug run, why would you risk cops by not wearing a seat belt?
Only break one law at a time.
Yeah, he's planning on putting it on for the ride home
Some people are just not very smart
I imagine most people doing a drug run aren't very smart...
"don't commit two crimes at once". I heard stories about a criminal gang getting caught red handed because they parked illegally. Imagine getting pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt just for them to find drugs
Son of Sam got caught because of a parking ticket
The greatest example is al Capone. Tax evasion is what got him for everything else.
If he had just paid his dues!
My car will YELL at us for not having a seat belt on. The faster we go, the louder the chime
I disabled my sides warning because it's fucking annoying, I kept the passenger side enabled because there's no guarantee they'll actually put it on like I do
I have been the passenger in a vehicle where the driver didn't wear their seatbelt, and they drove 30 minutes down the highway with the chime going. I think he may have been partway deaf due to using power tools without ear protection, but now we have two data points in a trend.
Considering he was a smoker too, I wonder what his life is like now 15 years later.

They literally make and sell just, standalone seatbelt fasteners, with no attached seatbelt, to 'solve' this 'problem'.
IMO, anyone who owns one of those should have their liscense revoked, forever, full stop.
The same people buy fake seatbelt clips to stop the warnings.
At least they are mostly just endangering themselves, as long as they don't turn into a projectile during a crash
I had tires on my seats without seat belts last time. Fifteen fucking minutes of ringing. At least I know to put them tyres their seat belts on for next time, I can promise you that.
Man, you can do that at 5 MPH and get a similar reaction. A few thousand pounds of car moving at 5MPH carries way more momentum than people realize.
Edit: 5 MPH is a brisk walk. If you've run into a lamppost or a tree during a brisk walk, then you should understand what I mean.
The weight of the car has no impact (excuse the pun) on the momentum of its passengers.
So I only took one physics class and never had to do it again, so I have no clue how to think of this. But doesnt a heavier car need more force to bring it + the passengers up to velocity than a lighter vehicle?
If that's the case and that car crashed, then I would figure the passengers would experience more force going the opposite direction than passengers in the lighter vehicle. That seems like it'd be more dangerous, even though both sets of passengers travelled at the same speed. Am I off base?
"Weight has nothing to do with it!"
They actually did something similar with a bus (the large long distance type) when I was in school. Hard brake at walking speed, pretty brutal. IIRC the lesson was to brace against the back of the seat in front of you when there's an imminent impact/brake event, though of course you usually don't know beforehand.
When I was doing my driving licence, here it's mandatory to visit a a slick course before you get your licence. In summer it's soap and oil or in the winter its ice and water.
Anyway, they had this tiny rig. A car seat, but it's on a rail, but the rail is only some 1m-1.5m (3-5ft) long, and on like a 5-15° angle, but it simulates a dead stop at like 10-20km/h or smth kinda low. And even that was pretty brutal.
unless you find yourself between the car and a stationary object, the few thousand pounds of car has no influence here.
I do agree though that a human body traveling at 5MPH do carry way more momentum than many realize.
This is especially important with people in the back seat. I don't care if thaw the law allows people to sit in the back seat without a seat belt on, you're still wearing one. I don't need a human meat missile taking my head off if we suddenly stop.
In civilized country (France), adults are responsible for their own security. You are only responsible for children to put their seatbelts on. Also what kind of condescending word is "civilized countries" just say the country you're thinking about.
I'm convinced there is no such thing as a civilized country at this point. The more "civilized" a country becomes, the more its people become smug arrogant assholes who are anything but civil.
Which planet is this on? I'm not familiar with any "civilized" countries on this one.
I once did a hard break when a passenger decides to unbuckle (without need) before we arrived at the destination.
I've trained all of my kids to wear seatbelts no matter what. I've shown them what happens to unsecured items, and videos of what happens in a wreck (not overly graphic, but enough to get it through their heads).
Asks for favor, but then says fuck you... No, fuck you, sir. Get out of my car and walk.
After getting their way, I am not sure why would they turn around and go back home without accomplishing the errand...
Anon is definitely lawful neutral.
based
Annon's roommate is a libertarian.
I mean it literally says the driver put his belt on
So they're right, the green text isn't saying that the driver didn't.
Sounds like an asshole with an asshole friend.
Agreed. This is like jamming something in someone's eye because they refused to wear safety glasses. If you don't want to drive someone who refuses to wear a seatbelt, then don't drive them. It's not a license to assault them. Guy who slammed on the breaks is the bigger asshole, even.
Fake as fuck cuz noones mom is guna fight about putting on a seat belt.
Mine has three seatbelt tickets so...
You would be shocked.
I get in trouble if you don't wear your seatbelt shit head, put it on
