Name an older anime you'd love to see make a full comeback?

I'm talking about the ones that may have had only one or two seasons but you know deserve better than that.

I'm sorry everyone. I'm going to wish Berserk back again. Maybe next time it'll be good
This!
No game no life
Charlotte. Just a reboot would be cool to see or maybe same universe different characters.
Deadman wonderland
That one... With the city and the eyes... Fuck what was it? Blood blockade battlefront! I loved the setting and world building.
Claymore
Claire hot as well
Outlaw Star.
Ghost Stories. Specifically the dub.
"A dub like that?? In this day and age? What are you r*tarded??"
I second this with Shin Chan AS dub. If only the director didn't die n a skiing accident who knows if it would have still kept going
I would normally remove comments using the r-word, but for those unaware, this is basically a paraphrased quote from the Ghost Stories dub that was mentioned. It was definitely a product of its time and would never be able to be made like that today.
It should just get remade for real, outside the USA this anime is considered very good, it was a myth to defend that dub.
Have you seen the dub? It seems to get the main points across. It's honestly the only anime I've watched of my own free will. I was forced to watch bits of Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia by my little sister. Idk why anime communities show up on my social media so much. Anyways, the dub was funny.
High-school of the Dead
No Game No Life
Tower of God (just rewrite the whole thing with the same premise)
With High school of the Dead 's story author's death, I don't think it will ever come back. Even the manga was cancelled.
Tower of God season 2 was seriously terrible.
Deadman Wonderland. Likely a reboot more than a second season
Also a bonus; Ebichu. Please. More raunchy adult animated comedy anime please. What happened with that genre??
Genre still exists in the hearts of Americans. Not really anime, but animated at least.
You reminded me of Henzemi, was also an adult comedy that only got 1 season and barely any scanlations, it was very funny and well animated.
Gantz. I really love that idea of the dead world on the other side of our reality.
Air gear
God YES, The battle against sleeping forest ova was cool to get at least.
Man. I would love an air gear reboot. The art style and comedy alone. Its also so weirdly unique relative to all the other shows.
Two things pop into my mind at least.
Ouran high school host club
Just started watching this, it's so over the top, but that's what makes it great.
What's considered "older" anime?
I don't think I want to see any of the answers to this question
Me neither ... Wait.
Imo, pre-2012. I think you could also argue that 2018 or 2020/2021 is the start of the modem era of anime, or even 2006.
I'd love to see more G Gundam but it's hard to imagine them actually doing that. They released a new novel though so maybe...
I just want my HG Nether Gundam kit. Is that too much to ask?! Maybe a HG Cobra Gundam too, and a RG Nobell Gundam to match RG God Gundam?
Honestly, even though it's already a masterpiece, it would not hurt my feelings to see a reboot of Chobits.
Give me two new seasons with new art, maybe explore some more of the storyline or something.
Failing a reboot where they redo it with modern art techniques and everything, maybe there could be a parallel line, or pick up where it left off and give us one additional glorious season of Chi taking her rightful place as the persocom empress of the world or something.
Space Brothers had the first 20 something volumes turned into a fantastic 99 episode anime, but in 2014, they caught up to the source material so stopped. It totally deserves a continuation, as there's another ~20 manga volumes out now.
Another season of One-Punch Man.
Arn't we getting opm s3?
What do you mean? We don't have opm s2 /s
Waiter! More punch men please!
Well, assuming that a modern remake or continuation can manage to recapture the magic of the original and retain its style:
Bubblegum Crisis (NOT Tokyo 2040)
I need Hyouka S2.
The Guyver
Golden Boy
Full Metal Panic. It’s one season away from being finished.
I want Dragon Half to get a full run. Shit was hilarious.
But . . . but that would put the "I don't care about series continuity" joke in the second OAV at risk!
It doesn't really deserve it, but I want to see infinate stratos s3
NGNL.
Serial Experiments Lain was weird enough I wouldn’t mind more.
Armitage
Somebody already mentioned it but Air Gear.
Read or Die…It had a series but I never got to watch it. I’ve only seen the OVA’s. So this is probably just a ‘I should watch that’…forgot about it.
I like your taste internet person! Armitage would go soooo hard in some modern graphics
There are rumors about a spiritual successor to SEL named Despera.
It's been stalled since one of the key people died.
Escaflowne - with modern animation and a full orchestra
Galaxy Express 999 & Captain Harlock
Vampire Hunter D
Big O
Escaflowne - with modern animation and a full orchestra
Much of the original soundtrack was recorded by the Warsaw Philharmonic, if I recall correctly, so it's already had the full orchestra treatment.
Ahh, did not know this. Only thought the movie got the orchestrated treatment. Thank you! Alas, I would still love to see it with a modern animation.
Nana
I'd also love to see the manga finished. But there's probably enough for another season at least before catching up again.
If I can choose a manga that never finished and deserves both a revival and an anime?
Zombie Powder
"K-On!" sequel pls 🥺
Also, "Gangsta." did not deserve what happened to it. Same for "So I'm a Spider so What?", although it's rather recent.
And why do all the titles that come to mind have freakin punctuation in them?
Akagi. Ended halfway through the Washizu arc because they caught up to the manga, now it's finally done so I'd love to see them go back and complete it.
Also from the same mangaka, Kaiji. Part 3 is the best and it's a damn shame that the anime ends right before then.
Easily one of the best responses
Kaiji part 3 is kinda impossible to do without part 4, not that I'm complaining. Both are phenomenal. Although weirdly part 5 is my favourite.
5 is great, but honestly I thought part 4 was the weakest. Not sure what you mean by part 3 being impossible without it?
86 - still has source material to adapt
How heavy are the dumbbells you lift? - still has source material to adapt
Gundam: Witch from Mercury - could have been extended to show us more of its lore
Cautious Hero - still has source material to adapt
Sakura Trick - still has source material to adapt
Hyouka - still has source material to adapt
Gundam X - deserves to be properly made instead of getting cut short due to pressures
Wait a second. Some of these anime came out only recently, you may say.
That just mean you are old, boomer. /s
Hyouka'd be 2010s, not 2020s, no?
Thanks; fixed
Baccano! was really good, I wish it hadn't ended where it did
Captain harlock
Hmmm, a number of very weird ones come to mind first...
Maybe because I had too much time to watch obscure stuff back then, and I love me some rare animus. Then again, they all weren't all that good, probably why they only had one season. And it's all female-led sci-fi I just noticed, shows my preferences...
The Third is an underrated gem.
Hear me out: Lupin III vs. The Third
Yeah it's underrated for sure, good candidate for a 'second chance'.
I'd love to see Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs ride again.
Also Samurai Pizza Cats, not sure if the magic of the dub can be recaptured though.
Akame ga Kill is a great manga that got an ok anime up until the end, where White Fox decided to make an original ending since they weren't interested in doing another season.
discussed this question with my same aged friend and we kept going through things and realizing they'd already been remade or being like "yeah it was great at the time but that time sure has passed"
I feel like any I'd mention have already been done and I never bothered to watch it.
My answer to this used to be Panty + Stocking, but they have a new season coming out on my birthday!
I guess now my pick is 009-1. I really love a good East vs West rivalry, and having a femme James Bond doing espionage in a world where the Soviets never collapsed really hit a lot of notes. I gets pretty weird towards the end, and I wish they had another season to go even weirder.
Old af, but, The Irresponsible Tyler
Slayers but Gourry isn't a complete moron? (Iirc that was more Anime only, and LN he was smarter ). I'd even like an expansion of the verse like Lost Universe.
Teknoman
Astro Boy
Speed Racer
Bubblegum Crisis
Full metal alchemist... fma was beautifully done till they ran out of material and had* to "improvise"
FMAB has a rushed, strangely flanderized start and then becomes the masterpiece it is.
Also, the ending felt like they ran out of money
I want one single well executed anime
*because of the profit, of course
I want to watch more Elfenlied, but I doubt it's gonna happen. Maybe I should just read the Manga.
Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor – i remember something big started to happening at the end of season, so i wish there was a second season. Also can mention: The Ones Within.
The manga kept going after the anime fyi. Although not sure if it caught up to the LN.
I'd like to see Pumpkin Scissors and Zipang completed up to the ends of their respective manga (although Zipang was controversial enough that it might be really difficult to get it made). Likewise, Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi up to the end of the light novel series. And, just as an extra, it would be nice to see the last arc or two of Ghost Hunt make it to anime, although that would have to be an OAV as I'm pretty sure it would make six episodes max.
Haruhi
07 ghost. An interesting anime with a fully fleshed out Manga.
How about none?
If I wanted to see soulless retreads of older franchises whose time and relevance has passed, then I'd watch Hollywood shit.
UY 2022, Ranma 1/2 2024, I'm looking at you.
