I realize it isn't technically foreign "investment", but international tourism to the USA is way down, which is having a huge impact on all the areas that rely on tourists.

Who in their right mind would go to the US? The only reason dfat (Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trace) is still categorising the USA as "Exercise normal safety precautions" is because of geopolitics.
It's wild that we rank it above other destinations.
I would choose China over the US to travel to, any day of the week, and have multiple times.
China is massively authoritarian, no doubt, but they're not going through random travellers social media posts. Even if you've posted negative things about China (watch Polymatter's video on Chinese censorship, if you're curious)
I mean, unless you're actively and famously criticising the Chinese government. In which case, probably don't travel there and be accused of being a spy or something 😅
In any case, I feel much, much safer travelling to China than the US.

I love to see this shit. I have longed for the downfall of this shithole after I saw how people acted after 9/11. The racism, the jingoism, all of it. Then the Iraq War, Patriot Act, Drone Strikes, NSA spying, Afghanistan, Libya, etc.
I truly madly deeply hate this country. And the further it falls into collapse and obscurity the better. We are the ones with 800 bases around the world. We are the ones invading sovereign nations on a whim. We wielded economic sanctions with such abandon that we necessitated the creation of a parallel international economic structure in BRICS. We're directly responsible for that. We are the ones who have been blowing up schools and hospitals not for just the last 2 years but for more than 20. We are currently and have been the bad guys for at least since the Korean War.
We should be a pariah state. We should have no financial or international relevance. Treat us the way you treat North Korea. This country deserves that and then some.
Shun and exclude us. Make deals amongst yourselves. Take care of your own house and enjoy the schadenfreude of watching ours collapse. I'm gonna enjoy it and I'm stuck having to live through it. I can't afford to leave.

I work in construction, and we've had no new bids come through in the past 2 weeks. That's never happened before, even during covid. I've noticed a lot less positive talk about Trump when I go into the office, though I doubt even this would be enough to make any of my coworkers reconsider their political views.

You already have a lot of responses, but so far none have included: Trump and some of his top staff are just not that smart. He destroys soft power projection not because he has some thought-out theory about its value, but because he can't follow the effect chain through far enough to understand the benefits. He really believed Ukraine and Russia were continuing to fight because they hadn't talked to a skilled negotiator like him: the underlying geopolitics is completely beyond his grasp. He seems to genuinely believe that the spending cuts to Medicaid in his Big Bill will not make millions lose their health insurance.
There are grifters all through the administration and its outside support with the corrupt motives described by other commenters, and Trump himself is greedy and selfish, but I believe he genuinely lacks the intelligence to understand what he is destroying along the way.

- Trump’s greed and need to line his own pockets. He will wreck entire economic sectors to add another billion (in bribe money) to his accounts.
- Rich benefactors wanting more. They stay rich regardless of what the economy does, and have a ton of liquid. If it crashes, they can buy so much more of it up for themselves.
- Foreign actors looking to upset US hegemony. They don’t have to go to war, they don’t have to fight economic battles…just incentivize the right people to do the wrong things at home in the US, and we destroy ourselves. It’s cheap and easy for them.

We know billionaires, they'll bitch and moan when their profits haven't increased as much as they increased last year. They wouldn't support Trump for his own gains or to appease a foreign agency for any amount of downturn. I read Bill Browder's Red Notice about how he and others went in after the fall of the USSR. It explains very well how a former superpower was picked apart and the choice bits divvied up to make some future oligarchs very very incomprehensibly rich and powerful. Granted, it was a unique situation at the time since the USSR owned everything and they attempted to "give it back to the people."
It's scary. It's not dry nonfiction. And some of the rich people he learned from, met, and has some insight on, are quite interesting in hindsight. (Ghislaine's father, and Khashoggi family come to mind off the top of my head.)
But between the monopolies and current government trying to control things (like the Tiktok deal, and taking 10% of what was it, Intel?) There's a consolidation of wealth and power happening out in the open.

I can vouch for this. The company I work for uses a ton of steel and instead of raising prices our conservative CEO has just taken the monthly bonus that each employee used to get. So while our customers are thinking " this isn't so bad" we are footing the bill by being paid less.

Only thing I can think of is if you liquidate funds or suppress them being impacted while taking bribes like that alleged $2 billion in crypto they got, they ride out everything dropping in price living the high life still, then buy up as much as they can on their way out so they own large portions of companies as they get built back up by the next generation. The laborers and will still exists, and they can build it back with these people owning more and having more say in what happens.
Otherwise... Just power. If no one can say shit about you doing anything you want whenever you want and you can treat everyone else like shit... Some people enjoy it greatly I guess.

even though OP is highlighting some losses/tensions, NATO colonies are being conquered hard, and that buys the US empire a few more years of "appearances of existing in a dominant position". For political purposes, elections, you can point to the complete explicit subjugation of colonies as "winning". Job losses, interest rates, currency depreciation, inflation don't matter if you can point to Europe/Canada sycophants doing worse, and paying for entirety US war on Russia. Blame for everything bad goes to someone else, and success measured in relative pace of decline. Make sure no one else is allowed to speak, and third term is secured.

I can't. Corporations exist to make a profit for their shareholders in the current quarter. Governments exist to protect the people from outside influences such as those corporations. Their goals are completely at odds. That's why every Republican president is followed by an economic downturn, because they did exactly what a corporation would do, steal from the future to increase profits in the present and then funnel those profits straight to the top.

The military under Hegseth has gone hard on removing protections from harassment, and removing women from leadership. There are a lot of people happy about frat culture being OK again, and about having less chance of reporting to a woman.
Some people who make most of their incomes from tips will see a small tax break for a few years (the billionaire tax cuts are permanent, the tipped wages cuts are temporary).
Nothing broad-based helpful, no, but people who want to find a rationalization to support him have a few niche things to point to.

Of the millions that voted, we don't really hear the voice one way or the other from most of those people.
For those that vocally supported him before, the thought of "I told you so" is so abhorrent they'd rather be all in than hear that sentiment.
He's got no meaningful opposition. It's vote for the Republican who says they love Trump. Or vote for the Cuomo-crat who says he loves Trumpism but thinks Trump is doing it wrong.
